Brilliant and well deserved.

I do think that a race in Bahrain right now will be a huge risk to the safety of the team personnel. And honestly, as a sport, as a source of entertainment and joy to us all and the people of Bahrain, I’d rather it took place when the people could actually host it well and in good spirits.
I doubt if the teams can wait more than a couple of days to decide, for logistical reasons. Pirelli have already sent the tyres for the Bahrain test on the way, and most of the teams have freights scheduled or already in motion. This could turn out to be a major headache for the logistics team if the race is cancelled or the decision is delayed.
19th February 2011, 12:36 at 12:36 pm #161725SundarF1ParticipantI agree with you Ned. Although not watching the race is going to be one hell of a willpower test, an F1 race right now in Bahrain as if it’s business as usual just feels wrong.
Make no mistake, the race may or may not happen, and the powers that decide, will decide based on a lot of economic and safety related factors. The people who are going to decide the fate of the Bahrain GP are not likely to think of moral issues. We know that a handful of people boycotting the telecast isn’t going to save the next Bahrain common man from getting shot. But on a personal level, sitting on the couch and watching a race, being entertained, while barely a few miles away from the race the common people are being gunned down brutally, feels horrible to some of us. Surely that’s understandable?
I’m not saying what’s right and what’s wrong. An F1 race is probably the last thing on the minds of the people of Bahrain. Going ahead with it will seem like pandering to the whims of Bahraini royalty.

27th December 2010, 16:05 at 4:05 pm #139342SundarF1ParticipantIt sure was. Jim Clark blew away everyone to take pole, but Jacky Ickx was the star.
27th December 2010, 15:59 at 3:59 pm #139340SundarF1ParticipantUgh. You beat me to it jihelle. It’s right. Your turn now.
27th December 2010, 15:17 at 3:17 pm #156788SundarF1ParticipantCome on John Green, this is a forum with so many people. Surely you can understand that many people will have perceptions and opinions vastly different from yours.
27th December 2010, 15:08 at 3:08 pm #139335SundarF1ParticipantExcellent, Dan Thorn. I’ll give it to you. You’ve nailed it.
1962 was Ecurie Nationale Belge’s sole appearance as a constructor.
Your turn.
27th December 2010, 14:08 at 2:08 pm #139332SundarF1ParticipantNice try, polishboy808.
jihelle, maybe you should look at Ferguson a bit closely. (Hint, hint.. )
27th December 2010, 3:40 at 3:40 am #139329SundarF1ParticipantThat was phenomenal jihelle, and although it isn’t the answer I’m looking for, it’s a splendid effort.
And you certainly came close – meaning the first/last idea.
26th December 2010, 18:46 at 6:46 pm #156782SundarF1ParticipantI’m surprised no one has mentioned these :
Alonso racing without a clutch at Sepang
Kubica on fresh tyres in Singapore
Alonso defending from Hamilton in Australia
Kobayashi at Suzuka
These were all splendid drives.
And all the others mentioned here were memorable ones too.
But I would give it to Alonso’s drive in Singapore, for there is no greater pressure than the fastest driver in the fastest car breathing down your neck on a track where overtaking is possible. It was champion stuff from the Spaniard.
26th December 2010, 18:32 at 6:32 pm #139327SundarF1ParticipantThat’s not it. It has something to do with One constructor each at those races mentioned.
26th December 2010, 16:55 at 4:55 pm #139325SundarF1ParticipantOkay, here’s a big one : Eight of the teams participating in those races have something in common.
