Turn 3 is great, has hospitality and a/C but is quite expensive. T2 is my pick for the zone 1 area, comparable view to T3 in the western most seats.

A zone 1 for T3 ticket will get you into the Padang area but it’s quite a walk.

SISTIC is the official outlet for tickets, they are highly efficient and have never failed me.

Turn 3 is great but T2 will save you a bucket of cash and gives you a comparable view. Hospitality at T3 is apparently good but expensive, if you’ve got the cash then go for it. T3 also has an A/C area which might swing your decision. Avoid Bay grandstand, the seats are killers though it does get a nice breeze.

Your T3/T2 ticket will get you into the zone 4 Padang area for getting major concerts but it’s a fair walk. There’s also a stage at the Village in zone 1 but the biggest acts don’t play there.

I always get my tickets direct from SISTIC in Singapore which is the main seller. They’ve always been terrific.

Is it possible to walk from the main grandstand area to the F stand? Is there an underpass or is it just a long walk back around the perimeter, or a long wait for transport?

Does F have any screens I can’t see any on the fan youtube clips I’ve seen? Is the commentary on the PA any good or should I bring an FM radio/F1 App?

Is it possible to walk back to the airport? I hear that the wait for the shuttle can be horrendous.

Thanks guys. I was thinking of staying at the Hilton or the other big hotels at Sentral. Is Sentral a good area for Nightlife? I want to see some music or at least have a lively restaurant/social area near where I stay.

What’s the frequency of the shuttle between the airport and the circuit and vice versa?

I’ve done 4 Singapore GPs and I’ve never seen the pit walkthrough advertised as a thing. I heard from someone that it was just paddock club people and corporate dudes who get the walkthrough. That or I’m just stupid. Same for autograph sessions.

I found that Bay has a great view lower down in the stand and right up at the top has a nice air con bar. The seats are a bit uncomfortable though, I’d take a pillow for my back if I was in that stand again. A big plus for Bay is that it’s a lot cooler than other stands as you get a nice sea breeze (if it’s blowing of course). Padang and Pit can be sweltering.

The only other issue I had with Bay was that to get to the stages and eateries at Esplanade/Padang you have to go through a bottleneck bridge. Not a big deal but it’s the only route and it can get busy.

I got a three stand pass this year, Stamford, Pit, Padang. Did the same last year with Bay instead of Stamford. It’s a nice couple of combo’s with lots to do. Had Zone 1 tickets for 3 years and I now prefer the zone 2/3 areas but you don’t get the podium and track invasion as you do at zone 1.

@rachel if you’re down low you’ll be looking through the catch fencing all night so it might be just me but that’s not ideal. The upper levels of T2 are better IMO as you get a clear view. Anything above the vomitories is good. I spent a couple of races in block A6 which is at GE far left of the stand nearer to T3. It gave a good view of all three corners. There’s also a position right under the highway bridge I scoped out once. It gives you a view down our straight, the pit exit, and the back of the cars going through T1-3. Also handy if it rains, which it never does at racetime. Pit grandstand is a bust as far as I’m concerned. It’s virtually all behind Catch fencing and the cars are going so fast you can’t really appreciate them. A comment above says T3 grandstand is good.

I moved seats once but in the same stand so it’s doable “officially” through SISTIC (if you’ve gone direct) but if you bought through a reseller then I reckon you might be snookered. Trading fan-to-fan on the day is possible but I’d be wary of security. Last year they checked my ID, a spot check and it only happened once (in 5 GP visits). But I think they do that so that regular person “A” doesn’t give their ticket to axe-wielding maniac “B”. While it’d be wildly against the odds you’d get spot checked and refused entry using someone else’s ticket it’d be a possibility I guess. But that’s just my read on what happened – it might just be that my disguise as a middle class, middle aged, white dude who looks like a suburban accountant (I’m not that at least) was so convincing that I just had to be hiding something.

Esplanade stand looked good with a nice breeze but pretty exposed to the sun in the afternoon, it also has better access to the entertainment and food than Bay because you don’t have that bottleneck across the track going East. While the view is great and it’s got a nice air/con bar at the top I’d avoid Bay at all costs, the seats are horrific – the person who designed them must moonlight at Guantanamo.

I’m all prepaid up; flights, hotel, tickets. Come September it’ll feel like a free trip.

@evilhomer. We spent the first 3 years at pit and turn 2. T2 is excellent, pit not so much. But the zone 1 area is a long way from the Padang stage and we’re keen on the entertainment aspect. We did the Padang combo last year; Bay, Pit, Padang. Best of all worlds as the Esplanade has better facilities than zone 1 and most of the bands. This year the combo is Stamford, Pit, Padang. Race view isn’t as good as T2 though.

We’re at the Novotel, an easy walk to zone 3 and 4 area. It also had a lot if entertainment right on the doorstep. My teenage kids can also find their way back to the hotel easily if we split up through the night. Novotel has gone up in price quite a bit from our first visit though but the kids familiarity with the area makes it easy on me to manage the trip.

Flights, race tickets, hotel – all booked and paid in full. Can’t wait.

Has anyone sat in the Stamford Stand before? Any suggestions as to the block? I’m thinking the far left block as they come around the corner. There’s not a lot of video on Youtube so it’s hard to tell what I’m going to get.

@Vickie I’m pretty sure alcohol would be forbidden. I’ve brought in all types of food and drink in previous years but I’m not a drinker so I can’t say. Be prepared for a big queue for booze on site. I think security will be tougher this year, not that it was ever lax; reports of half a dozen dudes with mortars arrested trying to illegally enter Sg this week.

We’re doing the Bay/Pit/Padang pass this year. We’ve been at T1 for the past years so I’m looking forward to a change of scenery (also closer to the Padang stage fun). I can’t wait.

The only real benefit i can see of the T3 stand is that you can hide in the air con. From what i heard from a couple of guys who were in the T3 it’s mostly corporate types on freebies rather than die hard race fans. I don’t know that the outside seats are actually assigned because it didnt ever seem to be full except for the first lap and last time I was there a lot of seats were empty during qualy and the race.

The stand itself is lower than the T2 stand and might not give an unimpeded view of the cars through T1 above the catch fence or around the T2 stand structure. See if there’s any fan video from T3 on YouTube. I’ve got some video from the A6 section of T2 stand on YouTube. I think it’s the better position as you get a full sweep from t1-3 and you’re above the catch fence. And it’s a third of the price of T3.

It’s an easy enough walk from Clark Quay down to gate 4 or 5 and not too much of a trek to Bay. Turn 2 is my pick, better than Pit for the money. But the money is huge to be aywhere in Zone 1. The bonus with Bay is you’ll stay cool as you’ll always get a breeze, pit and T1/2/3 can get pretty nasty on a still night. I’m still hoping to get up there this year but the stars aren’t aligning.

I am looking forward to the expanded coverage on Foxtel. TBH I was just waiting for Foxtel to get the F1 before signing up anyway. A mate does work for Fox and he’d said a while ago that this deal was in the works but it was for 2016. It just shows how desperate Ten is that the deal went ahead so quickly and ahead of “schedule”.

I just found out that Australia will only have ten free to air GPs on One/Ten while all will be shown on Foxtel. one/Ten will have a highlights package later in the week but that’s not how I like to consume my F1.

I just signed up to Foxtel for $75 install, $25 per month for the first two months then $50 a month thereafter. I’d rare not have had to sign up at all but there you go.

There was a distinct lack of publicity about the change, even here on F1F.
