Timothy Katz commented on the post, Pirelli criticise “ludicrous” wait for 2014 tyre decision 1 day, 19 hours ago
I agree. Pirelli’s marketing strategists must be close to suicide by now as the only message that the public has received from all this is “Pirelli tyres wear out!”.

Timothy Katz commented on the post, Spanish Grand Prix gets lowest rating of 2013 so far 3 days, 4 hours ago
With a rating of 5.9 for Spain, I still think some people are marking races too highly.
5 is average, 4 is below average, 6 is above average. So 5.9 should be a pretty good race, whereas Spain really was . . . -
Timothy Katz commented on the post, Monaco “still a daunting place”, says Webber 3 days, 10 hours ago
@keithcollantine Oh, but they did! Towards the end of the second vid clip, Murray explains that the race will be over 41 laps instead of 42 etc, etc, so *someone* must have told him. Maybe the organisers then […]

‘On this day on F1′
Marvelous old film from Spa. I watched both parts and was amazed at the difference between then and now in the amount of information being given out by the commentators – James and Murray. […] -

@GT_racer Thanks for that. So they operating window, soft/hard qualities are nithing to do with the FIA?
But I have to say I can’t quite reconcile it with this quote from Autosport that was in the round-up on […] -
Timothy Katz commented on the post, BMW denies Ecclestone’s comeback claim 4 days, 12 hours ago
Grrrr. Block quote out of position!
This bit should be in quotes-I asked Pirelli to make tyres that would not complete 50 percent of a race.

Thanks for selecting mine for COTD.
I wonder if I am the only one who finds this quote from Bernie odd
I asked Pirelli to make tyres that would not complete 50 percent of a race.
I thought it was the FIA who […]

Timothy Katz commented on the post, Ecclestone tips BMW to join Honda in F1 return 5 days, 14 hours ago
BMW are having pretty good success in DTM this season and last, so in a way I’d be surprised if they felt a return to F1 would be attractive. But if they decide to become an engine supplier, it would be most welcome I’m sure.

Timothy Katz commented on the post, Bungling the tyre row will give F1 a tainted title fight 6 days, 5 hours ago
@bascb. Thank you for the information. So they pay directly, do they? No wonder they feel they have a right to comment and complain, even though the tyre spec is determined by the FIA (albeit after consultation). […]

Timothy Katz commented on the post, Bungling the tyre row will give F1 a tainted title fight 6 days, 17 hours ago
Yes, it’s always worried me.
Because if the teams are paying directly to Pirelli, they have a right to bitch and about the qualities of the products they receive. If the FIA pay Pirelli out of the ‘entrance […] -
Timothy Katz commented on the post, Bungling the tyre row will give F1 a tainted title fight 1 week ago
Oooer! This current problem had better be resolved with minimum loss of face on both sides if Pirelli are to continue. I’m assuming that FIA want them to continue, as I don’t think any other manufacturers are […]

Super analysis, Keith. This spat has the abiltiy to spoil the entire season – for whoever the WDC and CCs turn out to be.
But can someone remind me what Pirelli’s tenure as supplier actually is? Are they on a […] -
Timothy Katz commented on the post, FIA wades into tyre row with safety ruling 1 week ago
This does look like a bit of a slap-down, doesn’t it?
“Almost everyone likes the tyres” Pirelli.
“Okay, so maybe 82 pit stops is just few too many” Pirelli.
“So we’ll change them for Canada” Pirelli.
“No. You won’t” FIA. -
Timothy Katz commented on the post, Ferrari join Lotus in criticising tyre revisions 1 week, 1 day ago
I agree. Barcelona was incomprehensible to the general public and demeaning to the sport.
I also have to say that I would have a lot more respect for the Horse Whisperer if he or she used a real name and took […] -

That’s my point.
Next year we will have ( I think) higher minimum weight, different wing specs, totally different powerplant, different KERS and probably something else I’ve forgotten. All of which Pirelli have […] -

Timothy Katz commented on the post, 2013 Spanish Grand Prix tyre strategies and pit stops 1 week, 5 days ago
I have to say I was expecting a lot more of a drop off this year. But I’m surprised that the race takes 12 minutes longer than it did in 2004.
This year’s GP2 race was 41:59 over 26 laps, so average of 1:36.54 […] - Load More
