@alonshow Yeah, that was my thinking too. I went with Stewart as I wondered if the sequence was that the more successful brother had an increasing number of championships to their name: Jackie Stewart being the only option with 3 WDCs.

The car initially lacked pace, which I’m guessing is why Lewis seemed to, at times, be overdriving and he continues to do so in a vain attempt to claw back the massive deficit to Vettel. It’s easy to be consistent when you have a (reliable) car that’s on the pace, ask Vettel. Also, I think expectation has a lot to do with it; in ’07 he was a rookie, podiums were very good. Once he had won a race or two he was expected to win races and once he won a championship he’s expected to win more. Every season he doesn’t win seems to make him more desperate (plus he could so easily have won in ’07), especially while it’s Vettel who does win and who looks set to win a second title. He knows he’s one of the best out there but this will be three years in a row he hasn’t won a title, three seasons where he hasn’t had a decent car from the get go. I think it’s this that has led to the current state of affairs. Maybe he’s not good enough to consistently outdrive a car to the degree required or maybe it’s not possible, as JB hasn’t been able to either. Although now the car is improved he doesn’t need to overdrive any more, I really don’t think it matters with Vettel so far gone in the championship, unless he wants to add a few more to his tally of race wins. I just hope McLaren can provide him with a competitive car from the start of 2012 and just imagine what he could do if he actually had a dominant car for once.

5th April 2011, 22:23 at 10:23 pm #165752TomD11ParticipantChampions Forever is a good watch if you’ve got 90 minutes to kill, in fact I think it was linked to on here a while back. It’s basically footage of races from the era interspersed with really interesting footage and interviews behind the scenes of F1 with Francois Cevert, Peter Revson, Jackie Stewart and Mike Hailwood.
I’d also recommend the other two documentaries in this series, about Jim Clark and Graham Hill.

DiGrassi
No, it was actually Glock, although I think Brundle or Legard said it was di Grassi.

Nice job BTW
30th January 2011, 21:17 at 9:17 pm #158455TomD11ParticipantI posted this in the round-up but I thought I’d post it here too, what chassis do people think this is?

It doesn’t appear to be the 2010 Lotus, so is it a generic F1 car, the more unlikely option of 2011 car, or summat else?

A shame I was too young and just missed out on this golden era of purple liveries. I’ll second Calum’s request, can someone make a nice Dairy Milk livery, please, for the sake of the purple.
PS I hadn’t thought about the bears but now that you mention it, LOL.

Now that’s appalling :P
A question: has there ever been a purple car? It seems to be a hugely underused colour in all sports. (That’s why when I sieze control of Svalbard and secede from Norway I shall make purple the national colour).
