After 2014, how have views changed on Lewis in hindsight? We saw 2012 completed, 2013, and 2014. Where would they rank among the first 5 years of his career?
In my opinion:
In 2012, he was faultless. McLaren’s enormous incompetence and poor reliability was the only thing which…[Read more]

By contrast Vettel has only won races with Renault engine
The STR of 2008 is run by Ferrari and 2007 BMW Sauber powered was BMW P86/7
Vettel has the experience of only one team, while Hamilton has the experience with 2 teams.
BMW sauber again along with STR Unless you think RBR and STR are one team
Apart from that we have to wait for 2015…[Read more]
I finished Tony Brooks’ autobiography recently ( http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2012/05/20/poetry-motion-tony-brooks-autobiography-reviewed/ ), it gives a good insight into the feel of the paddock and his mindset at the time, he compares his driving philosophy to others and explains why sometimes he was more competitive than others (usually because he…[Read more]
Here’s my entry
Just over 6.2 km long. It uses the support race paddock, but the pit entry is moved to the inside of the last corner. My favorite section of the original track, which is the three corners after the 1 km marker is retained, but other than that, it’s pretty much completely new.

This is what I want to see :)
Get rid of that dash of black on the engine cover, looks too busy. Change back to 2011 livery.
Get rid of the purple, I agree it looks way to busy. A return to the 2010 livery would be nice.
Keep it as it is, however put a sponsor on the sidepod as it looks to bare.
Get rid of the…[Read more]
@ph Well, that’s probably why Button could accept a base rate pay cut from 12 million to 2.5 million!
Red Bull are clearly thinking along those lines too – the average age of their 4 drivers being under 21 next year?
In a Czech weakly I read there was an interview this week with a lawyer called Stovicek. Never heard of him, but I gave it a try. I learned that he specializes on sports law, working for big (Czech) stars, even making it into international sporting associations, especially FIA. Here’s a quick translation of a bit that I think might be of…[Read more]

He was brought in to be the marketing star, he was most likely therefore expected to be the number one. So much is obvious to anyone who’s done a semester of marketing. However, Mercedes GP probably wanted this to happen “naturally”, sort of like Alonso basically made himself number one at Ferrari, so they didn’t do anything about Rosberg because,…[Read more]
Pretty sure that the first one I can remember seeing was the ’99 Sauber, or something of that ilk. It was on display in Sepang Airport around the time that the Malaysian GP started, as it had prominent Petronas branding. Probably seen a few here. I remember how they didn’t look real, quite big (or smaller than you’d expect), very ‘plastic’…[Read more]
Good idea <a href="http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/members/philereid/" title="@philereid“>, that would have been my idea as well.

I decided to retain the general layout structure of the track, but I moved the pit lane to the left side of the pit…[Read more]

With Alonso almost committed to leaving Ferrari by mid season….did Vettel see an opportunity to leave Red Bull and go to Ferrari Wonderland by dragging his ass a bit and not getting sufficient points to complete his contract
@craig-o Was it not Mercedes that divested itself of McLaren when it bought Brawn GP in 2010? I think that went through by 2012, and in 2013 McLaren had to pay for customer engines, hence signing Perez for £5m over someone like Hulkenberg, who cost them WCC bonus money hitting Lewis in Brazil.
I agree that 2012 is the one that got away from…[Read more]
