Lord Stig already summed up the solitary option in the US pretty well. As he said price depends on your cable/satellite provider and what you get. We pay $80 for our satellite with a two tuner DVR. If there were a good option for F1 (both live and on demand) through the web or through an AppleTV app we would probably cancel our satellite subscription completely.

I actually kind of like the peculiar flavor of the standard Red Bull. It’s slightly nostalgic as I first had it with some friends when I lived in Germany in 1994 as a kid and it does always take me back there. I haven’t had one in ages though. I really liked the cola, but I haven’t seen it here in the US. In several years now. The Red, Blue, and Silver Editions are all much more tasty than the original, and go well with a bit of vodka and a squeeze of lime. ;-)

I agree with most here. It adds nothing but a lot of footage of barriers whizzing by. I’ve always hated it in indycar. It’s not state of the art, it’s distracting and usually misses the real action. If they really want to improve the show, bring back the zip line cam that we saw at Silverstone two years ago. That provided a really unique perspective and allowed a following shot through a whole series of corners in a way that didn’t distract. I hope they don’t stick with this useless rotating cam.

Wow, the Checo ad is pretty embarrassing. The Vettel ad is actually one of the funnier F1 personality ads I’ve seen.

@keithcollantine, I was wondering the same thing. Thought for sure Rossi was the obvious choice. Hopefully this means he’s gonna be getting a lot of seat time in FP1s this year. He was on NBCSN briefly with Will Buxton in both practice sessions, and at least implied that he’d be doing many sessions this year. I doubt he’ll get as many as Bottas did though.

My favorite moment in that video is when Hobbs says “if she plays her cards right she could be MY girlfriend…” classic Hobbo.

I’m glad he and Matchett will be moving to NBC, with Buxton hopefully to be confirmed soon as well. It won’t be the same without Bob Varsha though. He truly is one of the greats of American sports broadcasting, like an Al Michaels or Bob Costas. Maybe once his contract runs out in a couple of years at SPEED he can rejoin the boys at NBC.

Haha! Love that commentary. That sad little moan after the initial silence following Sato’s crash is priceless. It definitely looked like Franchitti left less room than he should’ve, but it’s hard to know if that was intentionally dirty driving or not. At those speeds it all happens pretty fast. Hopefully Sato’s day will come, sooner rather than later…

Gotta love the wooden delivery from both of them. It kind of highlights how ridiculous an ad like that really is.

@keithcollantine, the image stretching seems fixed for me, and the comments on mobile are now much better. They’re still pretty narrow with lots of text wrapping on the deepest level of nesting, but at least they’re visible which they weren’t before.

Major props for making all these fixes/tweaks/improvements in the middle of the hectic first race weekend of the year! I better make a donation again, it’s been too long since I last did.

@keithcollantine, I just noticed in the new article on Heikki’s helmet that if I click on a thumbnail to view an individual image (e.g. http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2012/03/15/kovalainen-angry-birds-helmet-design-pictures/kova_halmet_2012_aust/) the main image on that page is stretching the image vertically to a square using mobile Safari. The thumbnails appear fine. I also checked the full 2012 drivers’ helmets article and individual photos from that article are doing the same thing. Other photo articles don’t seem to be doing this though, e.g. I checked the first image from the final winter test day 4 in pictures article, and it appears as it should.

Also unrelated, I second what @ed24f1 says, it would be nice to have a direct link to the most recent page of a forum thread.

@keithcollantine, articles look a lot better now on my phone, however nested comments are now completely unreadable at the deepest two levels of nesting. They’re forced so far over to the right that they’re outside the viewable margins of the page.

The site looks a lot better now on an iPad. The images are no longer stretching at all.

I agree, nested comments are very difficult now on a phone, but that may just be the nature of the beast trying to view a website on a phone. Everything seems to be loading perfectly now in mobile safari, no more image stretching. Thanks Keith!

@keithcollantine, now the images are back to being stretched pretty extremely for me in iPad Safari. I’ve emailed you a video as an example, since a screenshot can’t really show it. iPhone safari is now loading the site completely differently for me as well. I’ll send you a screenshot of that also. It’s showing the categories across the header each as a separate bar, then the article as a narrow column on the left.

@keithcollantine, in mobile safari the images are still stretching, but to varying degrees. On the roundup & the HRT article the images are just a little stretched. Ironically the Marussia article still has the image stretched to an extreme.

Edit: now the Marussia article is loading like the others, mildly stretched. I just checked the articles with my phone, and they seem to be loading fine there, no stretching, so it appears to only be affecting the iPad version of mobile safari at this point. The driver helmets article and the “invite a friend to f1f” article both load fine on the iPad without any stretching that I can detect. Those articles seem to have smaller images. All the articles with a large image are still stretching on iPad mobile safari, but not iPhone mobile safari. Hope that info helps.

@keithcollantine, all images in articles are loading stretched out vertically to the extreme in mobile Safari. I can email you a screenshot of an example if you’d like. It’s exactly the same as the mobile test site example I emailed you a few weeks back.
