Jason Plato added a second win at Brands Hatch at the Seat driver put the misfortunes of his 2006 campaign firmly behind him.
Turkington made a better job of his start in the rear-wheel drive BMW but couldn’t get alongside the Seat into Paddock Hill bend. Matt Neal slotted in third behind them.
Plato made his getaway while Turkington, Neal, Tom Onslow-Cole and Tom Chilton disputed second. Gordon Sheddon took on Chilton but the two clashed at Clearways, sending Sheddon skating across the grass.
Next Onslow-Cole pushed Neal wide at Graham Hill bend knocking the champion down the field. But the BMW driver didn’t get away scot free – he spun off at Paddock Hills after clashing with Darren Turner.
Plato was spared all the chaos with a comfortable win from Turkington, second again, while Chilton brought the Vectra home third. Turner finished fourth – from 21st on the grid – and Neal recovered to fifth.
