Fabrizio Giovanardi cut Jason Plato?â?ó?óÔÇÜ?¼?óÔÇ×?ós championship lead to a single point by winning the second race at Thruxton

Plato was second once again behind the Italian after a close race between the pair and Matt Neal, who finished third.

Plato made his first move on Giovanardi on the third lap, diving down the inside at the chicane, but couldn?â?ó?óÔÇÜ?¼?óÔÇ×?ót make it past.

That gave Neal a run on the Seat and the Honda driver came close to taking second on several occasions.

After another attempt on lap 11 Neal dropped back, giving Plato the chance to attack Giovanardi. Again the Seat driver came down the inside at the chicane and the pair made contact, bounced across the grass and resumed their first and second positions.

That brought an end to the battle at the front as Giovanardi took a one-second lead which he held to the end. Neal stayed third ahead of Colin Turkington, who won the Independents?â?ó?óÔÇÜ?¼?óÔÇ×?ó Championship.
