Dario Franchitti should swallow his pride and return to Indy Car after being dropped by his NASCAR team

Dario Franchitti has been dropped as a NASCAR Sprint Cup driver by Chip Ganassi Racing. He will no longer compete in the top tier of the championship, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll now race in the Nationwide or Craftsman Trucks series.

I’m no fan of NASCAR and I thought Franchitti’s decision to switch in the first place was poor timing. He won the Indianapolis 500 and Indy Car title last year, but turned his back on the series just months before it sealed an historic reunion with Champ Car.

Surely it would be best for all concerned if Ganassi now brought Franchitti back to what he does best – racing single seater Indy Cars?

  1. It appears Paul Tracy is returning to Indy, along with Derrick Walker… reported here: http://www.indycar.com/news/?story_id=12002

I hope Walker can afford to run a team next year. For some reason, that feels like the bigger story to me.
