The long and short of it

I’ve made a small but significant change to the layout of F1 Fanatic. All posts are now classed either as “articles in brief” or “articles in full”, which determines where they appear on the home page:

Articles in full are longer stories which appear in the main column on the left, usually with an image.

Articles in brief are shorter pieces which appear in the second column under “In brief”.

I’ve made this small but significant change because I often find myself with ideas or links to share but not wanting to push other content further down the front page.

Examples of articles that will appear under ‘in brief’ include the current championship standings and the grid for today’s race.

At the bottom of the “In brief” list you can find links to all the articles in full and articles in brief.

If you regularly visit the F1 Fanatic home page looking for what’s new, make sure you check the “In brief” column as well as the main list of articles as usual.

If you keep up-to-date with F1 Fanatic via the RSS feed, you will continue to receive all new articles as usual. If there is demand for it, I could create separate RSS feeds for the “articles in brief” and “articles in full”?

Please share any feedback on the changes below. If you have any suggestions for articles you can submit those using the Skbrit box in the second column. I’m storing up ideas for the off-season so all suggestions are gratefully received.

Hope you like the changes to the site.

  1. Sounds good Keith.

Here’s a suggestion. How about ‘blocking off’ the articles in weeks (e.g. week 39/2008) and or month (e.g. September 2008) and then ultimately year segments, to make finding articles a little easier, and having those links on the front page. People can then scroll through and find or refer back to missed articles more easily. Clicking back through the “previous entries” tab can be time consuming. You have a great huge wealth of information which would be made much more easily accessible to other fanatics.

    Thanks for great site.
