Red Bull are planning to celebrate the return of the Canadian Grand Prix to the F1 calendar with a special event in Montreal.
Toro Rosso driver Sebastien Buemi will drive one of their F1 cars on a specially-constructed ice circuit by the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
The event will take place at the Olympic Basin at the Parc Jean-Drapeau on Sunday 17th January 17 at 1pm local time.
See the Red Bull Frozen One Facebook page for more information.
If Buemi wants any tips on how an F1 car handles on ice he needs to talk to Nick Heidfeld, who drove a BMW F1.06 on a frozen lake in St. Moritz in 2007. He used special studded tyres supplied by Bridgestone.
If you’re in or near Montreal and are planning to go to the event, let us know in the comments below.

It is so cold here today, it will be fun to see an F1 car on ice. Maybe I’ll go there take some pictures!

I’m sure it will find its way into the headlines tomorrow, because of its English name, like when people complained about the Red Bull Crashed ice last year…

Actually its worse than that, Toro Rosso is Italian, so two languages and no French, going to be a riot .. they should relax, I never complained that there is no English term for Poutine…

That would be great to see. They should put it up against an actual ice racer to see the difference in proformance.

Event has been cancelled:
“With great disappointment Red Bull announces the cancellation of Red Bull Frozen One Showcase, featuring Sébastien Buemi and the Red Bull Racing Formula One car, due to unstable ice conditions created by warm weather patterns. The event was scheduled to take place on Sunday January 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. on the frozen waters of the Olympic Basin.
A new date has not been set, but we are looking into the possibility of rescheduling. We would like to thank the residents of Montreal for their enthusiasm and excitement for Red Bull Frozen One and hope to celebrate the return of F1 to Montreal at a later date.”
