Think you can predict the top five finishers in the Belgian Grand Prix?

Name your top five and the pole sitter below for your chance to win from a selection of great prizes including tickets to the 2011 British Grand Prix, new F1 Fanatic T-shirts and loads more.

The prizes

This year we’re giving away a pair of prizes every race weekend.

On top of that at the end of the year the top 12 finishers all get prizes – and whoever scores the highest overall will be going to the 2011 British Grand Prix. Here are the prizes in full:

Grand prize: Two grandstands tickets to the 2011 British Grand Prix

The person who scores the most points in the 2010 F1 Fanatic Predictions Championship will win grandstand tickets to the 2011 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

This is the first time we’ve offered F1 race tickets as a prize at F1 Fanatic and I hope you all agree it’s a fitting reward for the F1 expert who can best predict who will be on top in 2010.

The grand prize winner will receive tickets to all three days of the 2011 British Grand Prix with reserved grandstand seating for the race.

Second place prize: An F1 painting of your choice

The second place finisher in the championship will win an F1 painting by Rob Ijbema.

You get to choose which F1 driver, present or past, will feature in the painting. Or you can pick one of the other motor racing paintings on Rob’s site Car-a-day.

Runners-up prizes: Autocourse 2010-2011

The ten players who finish in third to 12th positions in the championship will win a copy of the 2010-2011 edition of Autocourse.

The highly respected journal of Formula 1 and other major international four-wheeled racing series is published at the end of every season.

This year the publication marks its 60th anniversary edition.

  1. Why my prediction ‘could not be saved to the database’ ?

    1. I’ve checked and we’ve received it OK.

      1. There seems to be another problem in the system – I wasn’t able to select Kimi Räikkönen for 1st place. :D

  2. I’ve taken a gamble on no rain. Even with RBR’s pains and lack of running I still reckon they’ll be mega with Vet taking top honours as I think this track suits him more.

Alo to be quickest Ferrari. Massa was looking ok until he stuffed up s2 today but Alo’s been mega through there (upgraded diffuser must be doing alright) and he’s been the quickest all season.

Mclaren have seemed solid not stellar but this track should be good for them. I can’t work out who’ll b quicker between them and Ferrari. If it rains Mclaren will have messed my predictions right up because tghey’ll win.

I really wanted to stick Kub in the top lot as that Renault looks pretty quick this weekend. I’m impressed the F-duct seems to work well straight away for them.

    1. Yes, Alonso is a good bet for pole. Massa’s race pace is generally comparable to Alonso, but he has been really struggling in qualifying – I can hardly remember one session, apart from Bahrain probably, when he has had a perfect Q3 lap.

The Renault F-Duct didn’t work straight away – according to their podcast they’ve been working on it for a few months, and had at least one failed attempt at adding it to the car.

      1. Ah ok thanks Ed. I must have been asleep when I wrote that then :p

  3. My gut says the track will be moist, but not soaked. Vettel takes poll… again, botches on the first lap… again, and Alonso dominates.

  4. Will not slighly “moist” but will dry out by Q3 and times will be atleast 0.5 faster then in either practise sessions. Hamilton will just edge alonso to pole with just microseconds followed by vettel who is shows much better pace in Q3 then the previous Q1 and Q2 with sutil, kubica etc making it into top 5 and jenson finishing an unsatifactory 6th :) LOL if that is all right ill be chuffed.

  5. Hmm I’ve not been following the practice or anything so this is a tough one for me. But surely I can rely on the tried and tested Red Bull 1/2 to get me a few points.

Looks like I’m going to miss qualifying too. Perhaps that’s a good omen, since the last quali I missed was the epic Malaysian GP session

  6. Please, no one else pick Sutil for the pole and the win. Thanks!

    1. I would love it so much if Sutil won!! Only if Kobayashi won could I be happier

      1. Agree Ned it will very interesting if anyone’s other the top three team wins this weekend.

  7. Only 4 of us going for a Sutil pole out of 200 f1fanatics. Are we that mad!!??

    1. No, we are leaping to the top of the standings!

  8. I’ve got some ground to make up on account of missing the predictions last round :( Having said that, I’ve pretty much gone with the usual suspects for this race.

  9. Raardidyouseethat 01:20.124 CHA SEN KOB GLO KUB CHA

WHAT? the lap record is a 01:45.###. I don’t believe the objective is to determine the bottom five finishers. A little confused by some of the lap times being predicted for Quali saw a few 01:2#.###s. I don’t know how they’re getting that but OK.

  10. I can’t really follow the Friday practice right up to watching the live qualifying rounds and I shall take a wild guess based on the news I’ve read so far. My gut feel is that Alonso will take pole and P1 on Sunday. Lewis remains a strong contender in the McLaren. I have a funny feeling that Sutil of Force India with the Mercedes powered engine which suits the Spa circuit may be in for a surprise to a podium finish or he might just missed out to Massa. Red Bull will probably be in for a tough fight at Spa with their Renault engine which is not suited for the long straights and Vettel may scored in the top 5 finishers.

The weather is tricky in Spa and all hell might break loose if it rains. Whatever the case, it will be yet another interesting race to watch after the long break.

  11. Keith, where are your predictions?

  12. I take it no one has predicted a MAS – ALO one – two ;-)

  13. Hi, I don’t think my prediction was submitted.

    1. Ok I managed to save it now.I predict Hamilton to win, find the lap time a bit difficult. I hope my 1:47 is not far off.

  14. Hi all!,

I’ve gone for an Alonso pole as I can’t see him being beaten (except maybe by Vettel)… and then I plumped for a Sutil win, as I need something drastic to catapult me up the standings! I am languishing mid-table at the moment!

I’m hoping for a corker from Schumacher, but, if FP’s were anything to go by, he’ll be anything but spectacular!

Cheers for this feature Keith, very enjoyable!

  15. I have gone for a wet qualifying and a mixed up race result with some regulars mixed with some odd balls in the top five.

I sure hope Spa gives us another cracker

    1. Agreed!

Wet qualifying is always exciting… mixes up the race nicely!

Spa will be good no matter what… it always produces exciting racing.

  16. I guess a lot of people are going to score badly with VET, ALO and BUT out of the top 5 finishers.

Will be interested to see what prediction score wins it on Tue.

    1. Yeah, was a brilliant race but like you said with 3 title contenders out the top 5 it will certainly be interesting! Mind you, without blowing my own trumpet I guessed the correct pole position time exactly (even though I didn’t get the right driver)! so I don’t care how many points I get this round, guessing the pole time perfectly is enough for me!
