Reserve drivers
The following changes to the usual driver line-up will be made for first practice only:
Narain Karthikeyan will drive Vitantonio Liuzzi’s car at HRT.
Tyres
Pirelli are bringing the soft (yellow colouring) and super-soft (red colouring) for this weekend’s race.
Stewards
Three-times F1 race winner Heinz-Harald Frentzen if the drivers’ advisor to the stewards this weekend.
He joins Gert Ennser, a member of Germany’s motor sports body, and world motor sport council member Radovan Novak on the stewards’ panel.
The track
The Marina Bay circuit is hosting the Singapore Grand Prix for the fourth time this year.
The track introduced night racing to Formula 1, but its first race in 2008 will forever be tainted by memories of the notorious race-fixing perpetuated by Renault to ease Fernando Alonso’s path to victory.
He made amends for it last year with a top-draw performance to win again. Lewis Hamilton is the only other driver to have tasted success here, winning for McLaren in 2009.
The circuit is long, punctuated by frequent braking zones for seemingly never-ending sequences of corners. The hot, tough race takes nigh on two hours to complete.

The weather
Thunderstorms are a regular occurrence in this part of the world but they usually pass and dry up before the evening sessions start.

2010 Singapore Grand Prix highlights
Pole position, fastest lap and leading every lap: no, this wasn’t another of Sebastian Vettel’s routs, it was Fernando Alonso who dominated last year’s Singapore Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton retired after tangling with Mark Webber, who made it to the end of the race despite wheel damage on his Red Bull.

Can’t wait for this, first time I’ll be able to watch the race live (I was working in Germany during last year’s race). :)

If HRT are dropping Liuzzi here for P1.Then you’d have to think he’ll be the one missing out on the Indian GP?

I wouldn’t necessarily read that into it. Depriving Ricciardo of the seat time on a demanding track he hasn’t driven on would be a poor decision.
HRT haven’t confirmed yet which driver will be out for India.

Liuzzi has experience of the circuit from past two years (although not much from the 2010 race) while Ricciardo hasn’t any so it’s logical that Ricciardo can drive both Friday FPs.

Who knows, it might be a trade off. After all Liuzzi knows the track, Ricciardo doesn’t.
So they can give Karthikeyan a bit of practice before inda without hampering the drivers to much.
Liuzzi gives up some time here, Ricciardo gives up more time (a whole race weekend) in India.
