Karthikeyan (no, not that one) takes Predictions win

F1 Fanatic Predictions Championship

In a low-scoring round of the Predictions Championship the top score went to a player with a suitably F1-inspired name: Karthikeyan (@Ridiculous).

But the pole position time tie-breaker had to be used to sort out the second- and third-placed prize winners as 17 different players each scored 17 points. Prets (@Pretsdaya) and @JohnShoulberg both got within a tenth of a second of the pole time and scooped the prizes.

Remarkably Valentin Dimitrov (@Valengd) remains in the lead of the points standings despite failing to score in this round. @ParikshitRane is now a joint leader in the points.

Remember you can enter your predictions for all the remaining races below.

  1. I love the headline – that’s fabulous!

    1. The sad thing is though, that was Karthikeyan’s first F1 win :/

      1. @vettel1 Karthikeyan won it? Thats @ridiculous

    2. @vettel1 Karthikeyan won it? Thats @ridicuolous

      1. @malleshmagdum and @vettel1 only scored a poultry 9 points – what has happened to the world?!

        1. I don’t know about you @Vettel1 but as a former Predictions Championship prize winner, I feel like Jacques Villeneuve. Going backwards!

          1. @malleshmagdum – I don’t know the feeling man, 9 is probably a record score for me with my luck! I feel like the actual Karthikeyan: never really got off the ground!

        2. @vettel1 better luck next time bro…..

          1. @malleshmagdum – I’ll keep my umbrella closed inside this time, maybe that’ll help :P

        3. The RBR manual I won in 2011 really helped a lot to complete my final semester seminar on F1. Thanks a lot @keithcollantine :)

      2. Hahaha comments win.
@Keithcollantine: My name is on third, please I want the Pirelli wristbands, please please please please!! :) I have dreamt of winning that here everytime. Have I won it?

    3. @vettel1 ur profile says u startd fllwing f1 in 2010. Assuming ur just a kid, u probably dnt knw hw successful Karthikeyan has been outside F1…..unfortunately he didnt succeed with HRT. Was avg with Jordan.

      1. @malleshmagdum – I put it that way as that is when I started following every F1 race – I’ve been following it more loosely since the Schumacher days. I have read up a bit on Karthikeyan but indeed the first time I had seen him race was in his HRT days, so yes you are correct in saying I haven’t really followed his career from the start as I’m guessing you have.

And for the record yes I’m not even at the point of going to Uni yet!

        1. @vettel1 The reason I started following F1 was because of Narain, just like so many Indians. Narain has done a lot in bringing up F1 in India. I still remember his first and last race. The first race was special, all news channels were running breaking news “Karthikeyan becomes the first Indian to race in F1” as soon as the AUS GP finished. I think he finished 12th in it. Then the last race he just crashed out. He was heavily fueled and had a good chance to finish higher up.
I started following him in 2004. Didnt really watch races in 2006 & 2007. Then started watch in 2008 thanks to Force India.

My Predictions Championship this year is going better than the last 2 years… I’m 11thin the General Standings!!! But of course I would love to repeat or improve my 3rd place got in Valencia last year.

    1. Joint 531st – get in! :P

  4. Wow, best round so far, 7 points!

  5. i was 31st last time but i got the predictions horribly wrong this time and only scored 4 points this race. This puts me Joint 43rd now.

  6. Did anyone pick Rosberg for the pole?

    1. If anyone did, I’ll bet it was a because they had a faulty mouse!!!

    2. @schooner Looking at the data made available, 39 people predicted someone other than Vettel, Alonso, Raikkonen, Hamilton and Massa would take pole position. I assume most of those remaining 39 went to Webber, but he got less than 33 predictions. I suppose Rosberg did get a few then :)

:'( … Miserable round continues. Feeefall

  8. F1 isnt the same without narain

    1. Yeah, it’s mostly faster now.

  9. Still don’t understand how I won it. Maybe I need to read the rules again. Also, how do I claim the prize?

    1. @ridiculous Check your email. And congratulations again!

      1. Thanks @keithcollantine . I had to go through lots of trouble convincing my friends that I had won. And Karthikeyan is my real name – 0% inspiration from F1
