L’Equipe reports former Formula One driver Franck Montangy failed a drugs test during his last Formula E race. He tested positive for cocaine:

That’s crack, isn’t it?
Such a shame, both for him and for the championship. He has been one of the most exciting drivers in the first three rounds of the championship.
@andae23 – Two rounds, he never raced in Uruguay citing ‘illness’.
Might explain why Andretti replaced him with JEV for round 3. That’s a shame, I was a big fan of his. I hope this isn’t the end for his career.
@bradley13 Hmm, awkward way for JEV to get a Formula E seat then…
@andae23 – Nope. JEV was originally set to replace Matthew Brabham, and Brabham got his seat back in place of Montagny. But yeah, awkward for Brabham I suppose.
Haha @f199player. But really, I don’t see how coke is a performance enhancer (that said, coffee was meant to be one, and is not banned? Although, would it last for 2 hours?), or drink-driving either (remembering how Salo lost a superlicence and 4 years in F1 from his 1990 conviction). However, seeing Sarrazin (or whoever spun off the kerbs at the high speed chicane into the wall) exiting the last race, it’d be worth testing him for coke.. talent level exceeded!
So that’s why Vergne replaced him instead of… Um, is it Brabham in the other car? I saw Vergne was meant to replace Brabham (or whoever) in car 28, and then turned up in 27 and did wonder why.
@bradley13 Well the original news was that Vergne joins Andretti alongside Montagny, and then came the announcement of Brabham instead of Montagny due to illness (or however it was put).

FIA Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee
Mr Franck Montagny – Decision notified on 24.03.2015 Mr Franck Montagny (FRA), who participated in the Putrajaya (Malaysia) event of the FIA Formula E Championship and who was selected for a doping control on 22 November 2014, tested positive for Benzoylecgonine (a metabolite of Cocaine registered under point S.6a of the 2014 WADA Prohibited List).
Mr Franck Montagny was provisionally suspended as from 23 December 2014.
The FIA Anti-Doping Disciplinary Committee (ADC) held a hearing on this case in Paris on 19 February 2015.
Decision of the ADC
The ADC has concluded that an Anti-Doping Rule Violation according to Article 2.1 of the 2014 FIA Anti-Doping Regulations – “Presence of Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in a driver’s Sample” – has been established.
As a consequence, the ADC has decided to impose the following sanctions on Mr Franck Montagny:
1. A disqualification of all competitive results obtained by Mr Franck Montagny between 22 November 2014 and 23 December 2014, as well as the result obtained by Mr Franck Montagny in the Putrajaya event of the FIA Formula E Championship, with all of the resulting consequences including forfeiture of any trophies, points and prizes;
2. A sanction of ineligibility for a period of 2 (two) years, starting on 23 December 2014 (beginning of his Provisional Suspension) and expiring on 23 December 2016.
Mr Franck Montagny has 21 days in which to appeal this decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
