Ten of the best pictures which tell the story of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend.

Max Chilton, Friday

With less downforce and plenty of power, F1 drivers found the climb from Eau Rouge to Raidillon more of a challenge this year – particularly if they were in a less competitive car or carrying a heavy fuel load. Here Max Chilton kicks up some sparks.

He very nearly wasn’t in his car at all, as on Thursday evening Marussia announced he was being replaced by Alexander Rossi. That plan was then reversed during the first practice session – while Rossi was already driving Chilton’s car.

Andre Lotterer, Friday

However Andre Lotterer did make his grand prix debut, taking over from Kamui Kobayashi at Caterham. Unfortunately his car failed after just one lap.

Romain Grosjean, Saturday

Cool conditions on Saturday posed problems for drivers getting their tyres up to temperature.

Valtteri Bottas, Saturday

Rain throughout qualifying kept everyone on their toes, but Valtteri Bottas was among those who made it into Q3.

CLaire Williams, Saturday

For some there wasn’t enough water around. The ALS/MND Ice Bucket Challenge swept the paddock and Claire Williams was among those to get a soaking, from her two drivers.

Start, Belgian Grand Prix

Nico Rosberg didn’t make a great start from pole position, which allowed Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel to get ahead. The Red Bull driver attempted to repeat the first-lap pass he pulled on Hamilton last year, to no avail.

Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Belgian Grand Prix

At the same corner on the next lap came the moment which provided the talking point of the race. Rosberg tried to re-pass Hamilton but wasn’t able to get alongside, and as he tucked in behind his team mate Rosberg’s front wing slashed Hamilton’s tyre.

Adrian Sutil, Belgian Grand Prix

Marshals look on as Adrian Sutil tackles one of the most famous corners in motor racing.

Lewis Hamilton, Romain Grosjean, Belgian Grand Prix

While Rosberg recovered to second place, Hamilton had only just begun picking off the midfielders when his car’s handling worsened, leading him to retire.

Daniel Ricciardo, Belgian Grand Prix

For the third time the year Daniel Ricciardo was perfectly placed to take maximum advantage of more problems for Mercedes.

    Great Bottas pic!

  2. All those pics are great,

The new nose on the Caterham looks sooooo much better, even though its compressing up through Radillion it looks to be carrying a lot of ride height? ,

Those lads are surely enjoying giving it to Lewis, ha, and he has freakishly long fingers ?

Claire wins the wet t-shirt easy , A good looking English Rose running an F1 team, There’s the real Queen of England,

The picture of Lewis and Nico. Nico looks far enough alongside to have a crack !, (if it was a left hander) :)

Dan The Man, trippin balls freakO

  3. Some good ‘uns this time for sure. I like the great roosters of spray (as Murray Walker used to call them), Ricciardo still smiling under a load of ice, Frank ready with a towel, and the reminder of how scary the Marussia looked going up the hill – all sorts coming out the back of it.

  4. Daniel, The Strong Man…

  5. If it hasn’t already been said…
    German.
    F1 debut.
    Green car.
    Minnow team.
    Car fails on first lap.
    Sounds familiar…

    1. Lotterer to win 7 world titles. Got it.

    2. You forgot Spa, same debut circuit.

  6. I’m missing a picture of Mag and Alonso. One of the best moments in the GP.
