  1. The McLaren mechanics did actually take pictures with smartphones to analyse the damage! Can’t believe I missed that during the race. Why would 7 different mechanics do this? Can’t be that their camera’s aren’t that good? Or are some on film mode? Different angles I can get but 7? The chuckles people must have had.

But anyway freaking brilliant, it’s so iconic. Well done.
The caption competition would go nuts: ”At one point the mechanics even proudly send their families pictures that the engine was still running.”

    1. @xiasitlo Normally they’d use pictures from the professional photographers but on this occasion they had a chance to do it themselves. Alonso’s damage was on the side facing the garage and the cars were coming through the pits because of the debris on the straight. It looks like Alonso slowed down a bit to help them get a better view, too.

      1. Ah, wow, completely missed him slowing down. That makes it rather clever. Turned my head briefly away it seems. Thanks for the explanation @keithcollantine

  2. The two Lewis pictures (the one with the sparks and other of him jumping into his mechanics) are seriously awesome.

    1. I was about to say the same. Sparks flying is fantastic.

  3. The last pic reminds me of one picture few years back – some well-known F1 photographer went to Singapore Flyer timing it so that he would be on top when the race finishes and the fireworks start – picturing the moment there.

  4. Very nice pics!

  5. this is next level. thank you so much for extraordinary photographs.
