  1. Spanish GP 2010. Our fourth GP and very excited as we decided to travel a day early so that we could be at thr track for the Pit Walk on Thursday. What a disaster! Will never do one again. It was like something out of Hillsborough. Thousands of people trying to access the same small area was a complete nightmare. The circuit had in no way prepared for the crowds. Thank goodness someone had the common sense to push down one of the barricades, primarily to let some children out of the crowd, but everyone happily spilled out on to the track. Ridiculous part about all this was that you were expected to exit the pit lane out of the way you came in which was mad. Bad bad organisation – if emergency services needed to get in there, it would have been virtually impossible.
We had general admission tickets. Not bad viewing areas but reckon the circuit totally oversold these areas. On race day, there were so many empty seats in the stands (and that was only the ones we could see) it was ridiculous. Why don’t the circuits just lower the stand prices to fill them up? Instead, you have thousands of people all trying to see the race in total discomfort! We took blow up stadium cushions which were a godsend. On qualifying day and race day, it was impossible to get anywhere near a place to sit – indeed we stood from the moment we entered the circuit to the time we eventually got out. Shuttle bus from Montmelo station to the circuit appeared on Saturday – this was a novelty train which was great at only 1 euro per person. Unfortunately, when the race was over on Sunday, there was no sign of it! Not a good walk – I’d say, unless you are a power walker, it takes an hour. All in all, enjoyed the race and the atmosphere but big thumbs down to the circuit for failing to cater for the thousands…
