Roberto Moreno

Roberto Moreno’s F1 career was a litany of F1’s worst teams: AGS, Coloni, EuroBrun, Andrea Moda, Forti… But it was punctuated with one brief, shining moment at Benetton when he finished second in the Japanese Grand Prix while substituting for Alessandro Nannini.

This lead to a full-time contract offer for 1991 but he found himself shunted aside to make way for Michael Schumacher. Moreno took up Schumacher’s vacant Jordan seat for the balance of the season but never got into a competitive drive again. He left F1 in 1995, and began a more successful Champ Car career.
