OK, so we have heard about 3 car teams but what would happen if cost cutting ever led to 1 car teams? (Im not suggesting this will ever happen) Who would go where? Would everyone keep there first diver? Who would trade up for another teams second driver? Who would be forgotten?

Ferrari want 3 cars HRT struggle to keep 2 cars so they should rent out a space to Ferrari, and Ferrari can operate an F150 in the HRT livery with ‘your name here’ saying Ferrari!! But the Ferrari-HRT scores points for HRT even though it uses all the Ferrari infrastrucure.
Just an idea.

Red Bull – Vettel
McLaren – Hamilton
Ferrari – Alonso
Mercedes – Rosberg
Renault – Kubica
Williams – Button
Force India – Webber
Sauber – Massa
Toro Rosso – Ricciardo
Lotus – Kovalainen
Virgin – Barrcihello
Hispania – Karthikeyan
And the eight new teams…
Red Bull Cola – Alguersuari
Carlin – Glock
USF1 – Lopez
Stefan F1 – Heidfeld
DHL Mercedes – Di Resta
Super Aguri – Kobayashi
Telmex Team Mexico – Perez
Convicts GP – Sutil

If Ferrari want a 3 car team, they can partner with a 1 car team and provide them with a car. They can use the small team to share the burden of testing new parts without affecting the preparations of the main team. In return, the small team gets a car that is actually on par with the established teams, giving a driver new to the sport a chance to shine and the team to attract sponsors, because they aren’t a back marker.
It’d be just like the 70s when there were a slew of small teams who were running Tyrrells, Brabhams, Shadows etc.
