Hey all, I’ve been really curious as to how F1 cars shifted in the 80s and earlier. We have the semi-auto paddle shifters today, but I know in the 80s they still had stick shift type transmissions. Did they have a clutch pedal like in today’s manual transmission cars? Where were the pedals located (obviously in front of the driver but they were not separated as they are today, right?)? I haven’t found much info online (I guess I don’t know where to look) so I turn to the F1 Fanatic community.
Also, while searching for transmission info, I found this video of Senna in the MP4/5 (I think) for your aural pleasure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZ0dfbTgfRw&feature=player_embedded
