3rd July 2010, 8:32 at 8:32 am #142068JaggedParticipantThere is a probably apocryphal story that when the Mercedes cars were presented for scrutineering for the first time upon their return to Grand Prix racing in 1934, they were found to be a few pounds overweight. The Formula for that year called for a MAXIMUM weight limit of 750 kg, so team manager Alfred Neubauer had the German national racing color white paint scraped off the cars and left them in bare aluminum. This was the supposed birth of the Silver Arrows.

Yes but a car will only lose a few tenths a plane would fall out of the sky :P Just joking. I do think paint thickness and weight is an issue for both and it;s a good point you raise :)
