13. Vitaly Petrov
14. Jaime Alguersuari
Force India F1 / Mercedes
15. Adrian Sutil
16. Romain Grosjean
Telmex Sauber F1 / Ferrari
17. Felipe Massa
18. Davide Valsecchi
Air Asia F1 by Tony Fernandes / Renault**
19. Timo Glock

Hispania Racing F1 Team / Cosworth
21. Vitantonio Liuzzi
22. Ricardo Texieria
MW Motorsports / Ferrari***
23. Giedo van der Garde
24. Pastor Maldonado
* Vitaly Petrov uses the number 13 because he does not consider it to be unlucky.
** Team Lotus lose legal battle against Lotus Cars and are forced to change their name. Becomes a Williams-style privateer “name” team, known as Air Asia F1 by Tony Fernandes to avoid confusion with Adrian Fernandez’s Fernandez Racing.
*** Mark Webber retires at the end of 2012. He spends 2013 on hiatus, before purchasing Toro Rosso for the 2014 season, similar to the MW Arden teams that run in GP2/GP3.

Because I screwed up, and now I can’t edit it.
Massa would be at Williams. Chandhok at Sauber.
22nd August 2012, 15:56 at 3:56 pm #162236MichaelParticipantDoes anyone else think that it’s a bad idea to give McLaren another V6 Turbo? The last time that happened, they won all but one race. Admittedly, that was after years of development, but what if they persuade Honda to build engines again? Or if they get an American manufacturer such as Ford who simply doesn’t care about development costs if their engines win the Championships? The 2014 engine regs may lead to better racing and more teams, but I still don’t think that this has been thought out as well as it should be. Thoughts?

Even if Mercedes pull out of F1, I still think the Brackley team will be on the grid in one form or another. Maybe even as Honda.23rd August 2012, 4:43 at 4:43 am #162239Prisoner MonkeysParticipantIf Mercedes were to back out, someone else would probably acquire the team. It’s unlikely Mercedes would simply hold onto the team, given that they could make money selling it.
24th August 2012, 5:34 at 5:34 am #162240KingsharkParticipantOK. Michael Schumacher to buy over the Brackley team a year after he retires as a driver. Can you imagine the instant love and hate a team named Schumacher F1 would get?
