If you created a race calender for f1 what would it look like. Would you add races would you take races away? *cough*Spain and Europe*cough*. Would you just re-shuffle the current race calender?
A few small rules.
-Minimum of 15 races
-Max of 30
-Max 2 tracks from the same country.

Suzuka
Malaysia
Singapore
India (really hoping it’s a success)
Melbourne
Sochi
Donington (European GP)
Barcelona
Monaco
Magny Cours
Silverstone
Nurburgring
Monza and Imola alternating.
Montreal
Austin (like India, hoping it’s good)
Mexico City
Sao Paulo

2nd August 2011, 11:23 at 11:23 am #175780AnonymousInactiveHere’s mine list that I have saved as a .txt file for every time I see a thread like this rolled out. I’ve ignored the rule about 2 per country. The US is massive a massive country and a massive market, so I’ve given it to have 3.
1 – Brazil – São Paulo – Autódromo José Carlos Pace
2 – Americas – The Americas – Various (Rotation)
3 – USA West – California – Laguna Seca
4 – Monaco – Monte Carlo – Circuit de Monaco
5 – Spain – Alcañiz – Motorland Aragon
6 – European – Europe – Various (Rotation)
7 – Canada – Montreal – Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
8 – USA Indy – Indianapolis – Indianapolis Motor Speedway Oval
9 – France – Le Mans – Circuit de La Sarthe (New mid-length version)
10 – Britain – Northamptonshire – Silverstone Circuit
11 – Germany – Nürburg – Nürburgring
12 – Italy – Monza – Autodromo Nazionale di Monza
13 – Belgium – Spa – Circuit de Spa-Francourchamps
14 – Portugal – Portimao – Autódromo Internacional do Algarve
15 – USA East – Florida – Sebring International Raceway
16 – Argentina – San Luis – Potrero de Los Funes
17 – South Africa – Kyalami – Kyalami Circuit
18 – Pacific – Asia/Oceania – Various (Rotation)
19 – Japan – Suzuka – Suzuka Circuit
20 – Australia – Melbourne – Albert Park Circuit
You many have noticed many of the new Middle-Eastern and Asian tracks are missing. There is a good reason for this. Style over substance, and we all know it.
But there we are, Calendar with at least 1 race on all continents, a decent presence in North America (boath coasts, and the oval in the middle), classic European races, and 3 slots left open for various tracks on rotation, such as the Middle Eastern ones.
2nd August 2011, 11:43 at 11:43 am #175781SlrParticipantActually, I would replace San Marino in my calendar for an oval race. I’d probably have it in Mexico at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez race track, and I’d run it at night time, despite that being inconvenient for Europe.
2nd August 2011, 11:54 at 11:54 am #175782Ned FlandersParticipantI kind of preferred shorter calendars to the 20 race behemoth we are soon to have. The fewer races there are, the more special each race seems. 16 seemed like a good number
2nd August 2011, 12:41 at 12:41 pm #175783DoanceParticipantI would bring back the full Nurburgring. And of course Adelaide.
2nd August 2011, 12:58 at 12:58 pm #175784JourneyerParticipantI agree with Ned – less is better. Other things I took into consideration include:
a. A true world championship – A championship covers as many regions as possible; Because of this, 16 was a tough number to reduce it to, settling at 18. You’ll see 5 races in Asia, 1 in Africa, 4 in the Americas, and 8 in Europe.
b. Not having nearby races too close together – reducing F1 fatigue among the people there, maximizing ticket sales potential
c. US potential – the only country in my calendar with 2 races is the country that needs it the most – the United States
Dates are based on the 2012 calendar. I’ve also been realistic here, just working with circuits that would be race-ready by then.
1. Australia – Albert Park (March 18)
2. India – Buddh (April 1)
3. Abu Dhabi – Yas Marina (April 15)
4. South Africa – Kyalami (April 29)
5. Spain – MotorLand Aragon (May 13)
6. Monaco – Monte Carlo (May 27)
7. France – Magny-Cours (June 10)
8. Britain – Silverstone (June 17)
9. Canada – Montreal (July 1)
10. US-East – Indianapolis (July 15)
11. Germany – Hockenheim (July 29)
12. Hungary – Hungaroring (August 19)
13. Belgium – Spa-Francorchamps (September 2)
14. Italy – Monza (September 9)
15. Singapore – Marina Bay (September 23)
16. Japan – Suzuka (October 7)
17. US-West – Austin (October 21)
18. Brazil – Interlagos (November 4)
2nd August 2011, 13:56 at 1:56 pm #175785ZadakMemberI’d just get more extreme tracks
AVUS doesn’t need to be the original location, it would be a pretty easy track to replicate.
Full Nurburgring or something else massive
Sebring, Monthery or Brooklands, something fast and made of concrete.
And an Oval would be nice too.
All fantasy ofcourse, I like the calendar as it is, a few races are stinkers but but there have always been some races that are better than others.
