I was wondering what peoples view are on introducing variablility into the technical specifications. The restrictions on each technology choice would obviously need to be designed keep lap times similar (for good racing), however different technology would have advantages at different stages of the lap / race.

For instance, rather than allowing both KERS and a moveable rear wing, perhaps teams would have the option of using either one or the other. Or perhaps an option to increase KERS usage at the expense of tighter restrictions on the diffuser.

To limit costs, the choices would probably need to be made for an entire season, or teams would end up having to develop all technologies. It will also have an affect of makeing the already very complex rules, even more so.

However if managed correctly it could create interesting racing.
