We’ve got a team’s association, and a “making the rules up badly as they go along” association, and a “making money” organisation all running F1, or attempting to, usually at cross purposes and with no real benefit to the fans.

What else do we need? I know!

A sponsor’s association! So that sponsors can start demanding a role in what decisions get made running the sport! What a great idea! What could possibly go wrong?

Could lead to some amusingly staged post race celebrations – Hamilton can phone his dad via Vodafone, Alonso can go to a branch of Santander to pay his winners cheque in, Webber can drink some Red Bull and Sutil can pretty much just go out on the lash.

I’m glad we don’t still have that team that was sponsored by Durex.

@Fixy – the link doesn’t work, but I’m hoping the picture is one of my favourite ever F1 moments: The Durex sponsored car… with a puncture!

The Durex car was a little plain. This one was far more suggestive
