I find it weird how everyone seems to have the same thought pattern for once and suggesting the same usual suspects ala marussia and caterhams plus Gut and Vern will be out in q1.

In my mind, I think it’s too early to tell with the mid-field rookies such as Bottas and Gutierrez, as both sauber and williams had pace this time last year.
If we go by what we do know though, Toro Rosso finished last year in 9th, so with it being 6 cars out this year, i’m just going to say it’ll be a mix of the last 3 teams in the bottom 6.

The Caterhams, Marussia, Estaban and GROSJEAN!

    Duncan Smith

    17. Gutierrez
    18. Bottas
    19. Bianchi
    20. Pic
    21. Van der Garde
    22. Chilton

    17. Vergne
    18. Sutil
    19. Pic
    20. Van der Garde
    21. Bianchi
    22. Chilton

    How it actually went:
    17. Maldonado
    18. Gutierrez
    19. Bianchi
    20. Chilton
    21. Van der Garde
    22. Pic

Gutierrez is an unsurprising surprise. Most people expected him to be the one ahead of the season; however, in Albert Park he actually had legit pace until his crash.

Maldonado is the surprising unsurprise. Ahead of the season, few people expected him to be one of the usual suspects. However, as Q1 went on, it was clear that Williams didn’t have the pace overall.
