I simply started this thread, because one sound above all other evokes the most warm hearted and fond memories for me. Way above and beyond all else, the sense of nostalgia, excitement, patriotism, and sheer joy combines to fill my soul with gratitude and happiness…
Murry Walker saying ” NIIIIGEL MAAANSEELLL “
I can hear it as clear as a bell in my full coloured memories. I know many of the times I heard, it, the smell of my mums cooking for a late lunch. The feel of the carpet underneath my knees, the 80’s style house, the sofa, the pictures on the wall, the Wooden facade CRT Colour TV.. and most of all the vibrant colours of the car, the red 5, flowing by in slow motion captured in my minds brilliant capacity. The tyre exploding, the 3 aside overtake, chasing Senna through Monaco, the post race interview… it’s all anchored to my being by the glorious sound of an ultra excited Murray Walker. God bless that man.
Even the brimming enthusiasm carried through his mid race song, throws my spirit in to gear and recalls the youthful, innocent wonder of the fastest, most dangerous machines in my then existing consciousness of the world.
I could live, for reliving those events, and the effects they had on me. I’m so grateful when I remember, I even smell the track, the cars, the air, the oil, the petrol, the rubber, feel the crowd.. the recipe the my mind has put together under the graceful tag of MW.
Until the day I die, I dare say those childhood memories will come flooding back, whenever I capture a glimpse of a red 5, or that glorious, unrivaled sound. :)

I’m not sure what sorts of sounds you want to stick to, but I think all F1 fans aged 18 or above will get a serious nostalgia attack when they hear this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7c3R-wdvpM&feature=related It still gives me the tingles!

i really love that kind of interim launch control sounding engine note when the 5 lights are going on.. the camera slowly zooms in, the commentators slowly build up.. its nerveracking stuff!

9th April 2011, 6:51 at 6:51 am #166386IcthyesParticipantNed I love you for that!
I really like the sound of the cars under braking, they make a kind of winding down noise going down through the gears.

9th April 2011, 12:47 at 12:47 pm #166392Dan ThornParticipantHaha I was just watching that! I think it’s safe to say that Murray makes some of the greatest sounds…

9th April 2011, 16:44 at 4:44 pm #166395MattHTParticipantI had one sound in my mind as i began to read this thread…..and Ned posted it! The 90’s intro is the best one, and I don’t think anything has ever so got me as excited about F1 as that intro used to! Thanks!
9th April 2011, 16:59 at 4:59 pm #166396AndrewTannerParticipantFor me the best sound has to be the burn-outs prior to the race, after the formation lap. Just pure aggression! At least I think that’s what they’re called, I’m sure Martin Brundle has called them that before. They have to do so many in order to get the engine primed. I’ve looked on YouTube but I just get videos of donuts :/
If someone can find me a video I will be most appreciative :)
