Hello, long time reader, first time post!

So Ned Flanders’ Tilke article earlier got me thinking – if you had a typical 19/20 race season what would be your dream venue listing? What tracks would you include if you had Bernie’s job? With all the money being spent making new tracks I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest the same money could be invested to bring back old tracks, so you can include no longer functioning tracks…

    Prisoner Monkeys

I’m pretty sure there’s at least two threads on this already.

    My ultimate calendar would be:

    Interlagos Brazilian GP

    Suzuka Japanese GP

    Spa Belgian GP

    Monza Italian GP

    Brands Hatch European GP

    Silverstone British GP

    Hockenheim(pre 2002) German GP

    Osterreichring Austrian GP

    Monte Carlo Monaco GP

    Montreal Canadian GP

    Laguna Seca US GP

    Jerez: Spanish GP

    Zandvoort Dutch GP

    Adelaide Australian GP

    Paul Ricard French GP

    Kylami South African GP

    Istanbul Turkish GP

    Buenos Aires(pre 90s) Argentine GP

    Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Mexican GP

    Estroil Portugese GP

    Felipe Bomeny

Well, for a realistic and modern dream calendar, it would be…

    Portuguese GP@ Estoril

    Brazilian GP@ Interlagos

    Mexican GP@ Mexico City

    South African GP@ Kyalami

    Indonesian GP@ Sentul

    American GP@ Laguna Seca

    Belgian GP@ Spa

    Italain GP@ Monza

    German GP@ Nurburgring

    Spanish GP@ Jerez

    Monaco GP@ Monte Carlo

    Australian GP@ Albert Park

    New Zealand GP@ Taupo

    Chinese GP@ Zhuhai

    Canadian GP@ Montreal

    Japanese GP@ Fuji

    Pacific GP@ Suzuka

    European GP@ Zolder

    British GP@ Silverstone

    Abu Dhabi GP@ Yas Island

(sigh) Goose, why do you bring horrible tracks such as Zhuhai? And Sentul? Theres not enough corners to make it a proper track! I like your idea of Pacific GP and Japanese GP though…. ANyway, heres my list.

    New Zealand GP @ Taupo

    Australian GP @ Adelaide

    Mexican GP @ Mexico City

    Brazilian Gp @ Interlagos

    Canadian GP @ Montreal

    American GP @ Sebring

North American GP @ Watkins Glen

    South African GP @ Kyalami

    Monogasquean(?) GP @ Monter Carlo

Spanish GP @ Catalunya (pre 2007)

    German GP @ Nurburgring

    British GP @ Silverstone

    Turkish GP @ Istanbul

    Belgian GP @ Spa Francorchamps

    European GP @ Motorland

    Italian GP @ Monza

    Japanese GP @ Suzuka

    Pacific GP @ Fuji

    Chinese GP @ Shanghai

    Malaysian GP @ Sepang

    Singapore GP @ Marina Bay

Abu Dhabi GP @ Yas Island

This is my (Semi realistic) list. I would have loved to put tracks such as Bathurst, Isle of Man, Nordschliefe, on there but I decided against it.

    Australian GP @ Albert Park

    Malaysian GP @ Sepang

    Japanese GP @ Suzuka

    Turkish GP @ Istanbul

    Monaco GP @ Monaco

    German GP @ Nurburgring

    British GP @ Brands Hatch

    Dutch GP @ Zandvort

    Spanish GP @ Montjuich Park

    Canadian GP @ Montreal

US GP @ Miller Motorsport Park

    Brazilian GP @ Interlagos

Argentine GP @ Potrero de los Funes

    Silverstone GP @ Silverstone

    Belgian GP @ Spa Francorchamps

    Italian GP @ Monza

    Czech Republic GP @ Brno

New Zealand GP @ Pukekohe Park

    Singapore GP @ Marina Bay

    Victorian GP @ Phillip Island

City of Churches GP @ Adelaide

    sbl on tour

i,d take a year out go to

daytona 500, monte carlo, indiandapolis 500, le mans 24 hours, goodwood festival of speed, monza, a wee trip to maranello and to finish it off go to japan and brazil,

now like teenage kicks that would…. be hard to beat!!

    and then

    repeat the following year!!!!!!

    Albert Park (Australia)

    Sepang (Malaysia)

Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari (San Marino)

    Magny-Cours (France)

Catalunya [pre-Caixa change and pre-chicane] (Spain)

    Monaco (Monte-Carlo)

    Montreal (Canada)

    Istanbul Park (Turkey)

    Rotation of Hockenheim-Zandvoort-Portimao-Brno-Zolder (Europe)

    Nurburgring (Germany)

    Silverstone (Great-Britain)

    Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium)

    Monza (Italy)

    Suzuka (Japan)

    Interlagos (Brazil)

And most importantly, stop constructing circuits for the sake of having a F1 GP there. Unless venues have a reasonable turnout or are “classic tracks” they’ll always have an axe hanging over their necks.

when i grow up to be bernie,

    1. Australia- Philip Island or Melbourne

    2. Malasia- Sepang

    3. Singapore- MarinaBay

    4. Turkey- Istanbul

    5. Spain- Motorland Aragn

    6. San Marino- Imola

    7. Portugal- Portimo

    8. Monaco- Monte Carlo

    9. Hungary- Hungaroring

    12. Britain- Silverstone

    17. Canada- Montreal

    18. United States- Watkins Glen or Road America

    19. Belgium- Spa Francorchamps

    20. Italy- Monza

    21. Japan- Suzuka

    22. Argentina- Potero de los Funes

    23. Brazil- Interlagos

    Austrailian Grand Prix – Melbourne

    Malaysian Grand Prix – Sepang

San Marino Grand Prix – Imola

Monaco Grand Prix – Monte Carlo

Canadian Grand Prix – Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

US Grand Pirx East – Watkins Glen

US Grand Prix West – Laguna Seca

French Grand Prix – Curcuit de la Sarthe

    Brazilian Grand Prix – Interlagos

    Tom L.

Surprised there aren’t more calls for Portimao, that looks like a good track. Definitely Potrero de los Funes, and I’ve always liked the look of Motorsport Aragon too.

    Australian GP – Melbourne

    Malaysian GP – Sepang

Argentinian GP – Potero de los Funes

    Brazilian GP – Interlagos

    Turkish GP – Istanbul

    San Marino GP – Imola

    Monaco GP – Monaco

Canadian GP – Circuit Giles Villeneuve

USGP – Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Oval)[run as part of the Indy 500]

    Spanish Grand Prix – Jerez

    British Grand Prix – Silverstone

German Grand Prix – Hockenheim (Old configuration)

Austrian GP – A1 Ring (as the Osterriech Ring doesn’t exist anymore – ok contradicts previous GP!)

    Hungarian GP – Hungaroring

    Belgian GP – Spa

    Italian GP – Monza

Singapore GP – Marina Bay Circuit

    Japanese Grand Prix – Suzuka

I’d say pretty realistic. Ends in Japan like it should do in my eyes. Would love to see F1 Cars in the Indy 500 but that would likely conflict with Monaco and I think the F1 cars would trounce the Indy Cars. I’m not 100% sure though.

Some of this is pie in the sky, but hey:

    Aus GP @ Albert Park

    Malay GP @ Sepang

US GP West @ Laguna Seca

    San Marino GP @ Imola

    Spanish GP @ Montjuc circuit

    Euro GP @ Brands hatch

    Turkish GP @ Istanbul

    Moncao GP @ Monte Carlo

    Czech GP @ Brno

    French GP @ Bugatti Circuit

    Canadian GP @ Montreal

North American GP @ Road America

    English GP @ Silverstone

    Vattican GP @ Mugello

    Dutch GP @ Assen

    German GP @ Nurburgring

    Belgian GP @ Spa

    Mederteranian GP @ Jerez

    Portrugese GP @ Estoril

    Welsh GP @ Donnington

    Italian GP @ Monza

    South African GP @ Kyalami

    Pacific GP @ Philip Island

    Japanese GP @ Sazuka

Bahrain GP @ Bahrain (outer circuit)

US GP East @ Watkins Glen

Argentinian GP @ Circuito Potrero de los Funes

    Brazilian GP @ Interlagos

    Californian GP @ Infineon Raceway

    Oceania GP @ Adelaide

Going to make this a little realistic:

    1: Albert Park, Australia

    2: Sepang, Malaysia

    3: Sakhir, Bahrain

    4: Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi

    5: Motorland Aragon, Spain

    6: Monte Carlo, Monaco

    7: Istanbul Parlk, Turkey

8: Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve, Canada

9: Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Moto GP layout), United States*

    10: Silverstone, UK

    11: Nurburgring, Germany

12: Portimao/Estoril, Portugal (they look pretty similar to me anyway)

13: Hungaroring (modified for a bit more speed by cutting the chicane and having a diagonal straight from the middle of the final straight into the first of the U-bends), Hungary

    14: Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium

    15: Monza, Italy

    16: Shanghai, China

    17: Suzuka, Japan

    18: Buenos Aires, Argentina

    19: Interlagos, Brazil

*pending finding out what Austin looks like. And it would only let me draw it in straight lines, so apologies for it being messy.
