How could Helio qualify down in 22nd?

The first half of the field only got 5 minutes green flag time in qualifying due to Vautier’s accident – meaning some of them didn’t get a good lap in.

Didn’t realize the lap was that short. Though with a track like this the less the merrier I guess…

They qualified in the half hour slot previously allocated to warm up:
Group 1 (slower group, so even numbered grid slots): 5 minutes green, 7 minutes caution
Group 2 (faster group, so odd numbered slots): 12 minutes green.

As you can see, Group 1 were disadvantaged.

Feel for Sato there, was looking like he was back on his early season form before the puncture. Still don’t know how they let them race in a carpark.

What do they mean by ”entrant points”? It isn’t 2013 points because Castoneves would be on pole.

Its points for the car entry number regardless of who is driving it

    Here’s the list:

(The #3 Penske was penalized entrant points for an infraction at Texas, so it’s different to Championship Points)

Also if you look at the Indycar race preview… it’s going to be another standing start!

By that, Castroneves’ No. 3 Team Penske car was docked 15 points for a post-race technical inspection violation at Texas Motor Speedway in early June. The entry lost the points (ie: the team), not the driver.

Standing start is because of the problems with turn 1 and the fact they can only do single file restarts.
