4th October 2013, 15:50 at 3:50 pm #242559Keith CollantineKeymasterNot off to a good start – hope we’re not going to get a repeat of Detroit last year:

This is a track that’s supposed to hold up to two full-length IndyCar races in 48 hours…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ruhs-MZH0sThat tire chicane looks really weird. Completely agreed with comments made by Dixon. Why rush and make a track in just 96 hours? n why race in a car park? hope everything gets fixed for the Saturday race. Fingers crossed for that standing start!
5th October 2013, 13:24 at 1:24 pm #242561TomskParticipantA line from another one of Ron Howard’s movies springs to mind.
5th October 2013, 15:22 at 3:22 pm #242562Keith CollantineKeymasterWoeful stuff. That track doesn’t look like it’s any way suitable for holding a race – let alone two. And that tyre chicane is the worst thing I’ve seen since the ‘Beirut’ one at Barcelona in ’94.
5th October 2013, 15:36 at 3:36 pm #242563Keith CollantineKeymasterSeems they’re having to stick with the chicane:
Track workers appear to be putting the chicane back up after today's morning warm-up session. #GPHOU #indycar

5th October 2013, 15:56 at 3:56 pm #242564Euro BrunParticipantThat chicane is gonna be a nightmare. They already announced that restarts would be single file because of the bumps in turn 1, and that was after the overnight work. Turning into a bit of a joke. The tracks not even anything special given the blank canvas of a car park to work with. I’m not a fan of the turn 2 chicane where high kerbs are just randomly in the middle of a vast expanse of tarmac.
If that tyre chicane does come back, I expect at least 10% of the today’s race to be under full course caution. :(5th October 2013, 16:23 at 4:23 pm #242565cmckinleyF1ParticipantThat track is farcical. Astounding that they’re racing round that
5th October 2013, 16:32 at 4:32 pm #242566mildertduckParticipantOk, so Power is currently in the lead of qualifying as Vautier crashes into the barriers at Turn 10…
5th October 2013, 16:44 at 4:44 pm #242567Euro BrunParticipantApparently no chicane, but only one line thru turn 1. Dunno how a standing start into single file will work…
5th October 2013, 16:56 at 4:56 pm #242568Euro BrunParticipantSato on pole with a 1:00.4535
Power 2nd; Dixon 3rd; Bourdais 4th; Pagenaud 5th5th October 2013, 17:08 at 5:08 pm #242569Keith CollantineKeymasterLess than two hours to the start of the race – we’ll be up on F1 Fanatic Live to see how this all turns out…
5th October 2013, 17:19 at 5:19 pm #242570Euro BrunParticipantOh yeah, Castroneves starts down in 22nd. Very interesting for the title battle.
5th October 2013, 18:07 at 6:07 pm #242571Euro BrunParticipantIndy Lights were instructed to start the race single file. Hope we still get a standing start in Indy Car. Surely the speeds thru turn 1 would be safe enough for two wide if they’re launching from stand still?
