Keith, you wrote on Twitter that Alonso has set the fastest lap. It’s not true, Bianchi did that – http://www.desafiodasestrelas.com.br/resultados/124.pdf . Alonso’s 52.814 was achieved when he cut the track in the second sector, which is clearly visible here, in laptimes analysis – http://www.desafiodasestrelas.com.br/resultados/125.pdf .
29th November 2012, 17:25 at 5:25 pm #216409Armchair ExpertParticipantWilliams is saying Bottas is fundamentally the quickest of the three 2012 drivers, so I think he will be better than Maldonado.
It will be fascinating to see what Maldonado will do in a situation, where he isn’t perceived as someone with great pace (only because Senna was slow), because suddenly his teammate will be quicker than him. People quickly forget Maldonado wasn’t looking any special alongside Barrichello in 2011, not at beginning, nor at the end, not on tracks he knew, nor on unknown tracks. He only became ‘great qualifier’ and rated by journalists when his teammate was Senna, who is so good that he has to find 4th team in 4 years.
We’ll see, we will see. My money is on Bottas.

29th September 2012, 23:23 at 11:23 pm #211378Armchair ExpertParticipantHamilton will outscore Rosberg, because he has superior talent. Brawn and Haug will support him, which should be good for his mental state, but on the other hand he can become pretty frustrated, if Mercedes is not competitive. Bad or good car, Hamilton will shine, while Rosberg will be in supportive role, finishing behind Lewis.
As for Button and Perez, I think Checo can win this battle, I really do. I see something very special in this kid and I hope he won’t prove me wrong. He will do some mistakes, as he’s still open book, not closed chapter, but I’m not really worried about his consistency or results. He will do mighty fine and I bet he will be positive surprise of 2013 season.
20th September 2012, 13:58 at 1:58 pm #210499Armchair ExpertParticipantYes, I’m sure. 2012 GP2 field is one of the weakest, if not the weakest in series history.
Although Chilton is much younger than Karhikeyan was, when he was doing his stint in British F3 or World Series by Renault (Nissan at that time), their stats are similar.
Chilton – British F3 – 18th, 10th, 4th, GP2 – 25th, 20th, 5th
Karthikeyan – British F3 – 12th, 6th, 4th; WSbN – 9th, 4th, 6thStats can be misleading, but from my impressions, as I’m very interested in junior formulae, there are at least 20 drivers who I’d like to see in F1 basing purely on their skills before even contemplating Chilton.
20th September 2012, 13:01 at 1:01 pm #200956Armchair ExpertParticipantHint – it’s been known for few months Sauber is looking for new driver.
20th September 2012, 12:58 at 12:58 pm #210497Armchair ExpertParticipantHe is some 3-4 months too late with this news.
Chilton is awful. If someone is not interested in junior formulae, then I would desrcibe him as another Karthikeyan in terms of speed. That’s the last thing F1 needs, but hey, let teams spend millions of dollars without any budget cap and very soon we will have more such “talented” drivers on the grid.
12th August 2012, 21:48 at 9:48 pm #207073Armchair ExpertParticipantI guess Williams won’t mention it, but I wonder if Sky will say something about it in one of their The F1 Show episodes. I have some sneaky feeling, based on what was said on few occasions, there is this thing called business deal between both parties…
