Raikkonen on Schumacher around the outside of Senna S for me was pass of the race. To go off-line in tricky conditions takes balls of steel, that too against none other than Michael Schumacher. It reminded me not only of the role reversal from 2006, but also of Button’s pass on Raikkonen at Austin. It only goes to show how far off the young guns like Perez, Maldonado and Grosjean(all top GP2 drivers…hic!) are in terms of racecraft.
A bit biased here, but my vote for moment of the season was the podium at the 2012 European Grand Prix. Possibly one of the most dynamic races ever at a track which, apart from 2010(an airborne Australian comes to mind) yielded only insipid bores. But the highlight was the podium-my three favourite drivers, from my three favourite teams, three former Ferrari drivers on the podium, a home win for Alonso…for me these were scenes that I’ll never forget.
Another moment which comes close was also on the Eastern coast of Spain, but this time at Barcelona, when Alonso and Raikkonen, the veterans, hoisted the surprise winner Pastor Maldonado on their shoulders on the podium.What a great result for antonio felix da costa!!!! His amazing run of form continues!!!! At this rate,he will certainly bag one of the STR seats in 2014!!!!And would you believe it,they showed the entire race live on ESPN Star(coverage available in South and SE Asia afaik). We even got to see the GT and CTM races live!!!!!
Vettel had a huge tyre advantage and should have actually passed Button a lot earlier. But the move in itself was quite good. Alonso on Webber was the pass of the day for me. He’s probably the only driver who passes other top cars on lap1,where drivers are generally not very aggressive.
@Pamphlet : Do you even know of Stefan Bellof’s achievements in sportscars?? The people who rate him highly are far more experienced at judging drivers than you. So please do a bit of background reading next time before spewing out whatever first comes to your mind…

As an alonso and ferrari fan,i do hope for a couple more wet races. There’s not much chance of rain at India,Abu Dhabi or Texas,so i hope that Brazil and Korea host wer races
I’ve often wondered why Kimi is not considered to be part of this grand triumvirate. Why is he not considered to be as good as those elite chaps??
Where’s the outrage when the Toro Rosso drivers meekly go off throttle to let their flying cousins past,before proceeding to hold off the Maccas and the Ferraris?? Where was the outrage when team orders were issued at the start of the 1998 season by Ron Dennis??? Why is the Scuderia always pilloried by the British media?? How ridiculous they appear when they continuously overlook the actions by British teams and make feeble attempts to cover up their duplicity….
As an ardent tifoso,i would like someone like Kovalainen or Hulkenberg to be signed by ferrari. Perez’s performances are more down to his and Sauber’s tyre management characteristics. Which is a good thing,but i doubt whether he would have managed to get any podiums had the top 10 tyre rule not been there. His qualifying performances have been quite poor this season,and i wouldnt want someone lacking in quali pace to be signed by ferrari merely on the basis of a few headline grabbing results….
Idk why everyone seems to consider Di Resta to be the next big thing. He was comprehensively beaten by Sutil last season,and while he had the upper hand over hulkenberg at the start of the season,the two appear to be evenly matched in terms of qualifying pace and i think hulk’s the better racer. Yesterday,despite qualifying 15 positions behind DiR,he was running only 5 positions behind the Scotsman prior to his retirement. I think DiR’s a very good driver,but i also do think that he is overhyped as some of his contemporaries,such as Perez and Grosjean are probably better drivers. Yet we have everyone considering him to be a future champ,and many eminent ex-drivers expecting him to be signed by either of McLaren or Ferrari next season.
@raymondu999 : What a horrible list!!! Both Alonso and Stewart ahead of Prost??? Sometimes i wonder why poor Prost isnt rated as highly as his late great contemporary…and Hunt probably isnt one of the 50 greatest drivers of all time,leave alone being in the top 25. And Andretti and Hill have also been rated too highly. And i have another question for everybody….why is Nelson Piquet sr.,a three-time champion never considered to be one of the top 15 drivers of all time??
