    @Nico

    What the hell are you blabbering on about? They are all competitors and he was gracious to Vettel and clearly happy the team finished on the podium but as a competitor of course he’s happy someone got ahead of Vettel so that he has an easier job getting to the top of the points. Webber hasn’t won the last 4 races in a row and hasn’t had pole in every race since last September like Vettel has. If you reverse the situation you can bet anything Vettel and anybody in the pitlane would be happy to see him finally lose.

    The media loves him because he speaks his mind and isn’t a robot spitting out what the team want to hear. Would you rather he say great job blah blah blah and be another copy paste of the other drivers? I respect him for being man enough to speak freely. And he should be happy Vettel lost, everyone should, again, it makes the championship closer.

    Random people claiming bias because the driver they were rooting for didn’t win. And the lack of ability to post pictures in the forum. But mainly people who scream bias.

    Indycar GP at Long Beach so long as it doesn’t interfere with F1 might be another good one (I want to say all non Indy ovals -except for Indy- but thats too many lol)

    Can’t help but completely disagree with your driver rankings, but opinions are like assholes so whatever. And this is really simple to find out via a google search.

    The paddle shifters bug me too, as does the fact that there are too many buttons on the steering wheel. Get rid of the ability to make chassis and brake bias change ups all the time and leave a button for KERS, one for the rearwing, and one for 1 chassis adjustment (if u really need one). Since a lot of lesser formulae use a clutch and all road cars do, I don’t think F1 drivers would have too much trouble, especially if u get rid of these engineering buttons on the steering wheel. Staying with paddles could be fine too, but they would have to be made slower: single clutch and whatever else u can regulate so shifting isn’t more or less instaneous but comparable to the speed of a manual shift (maybe even add a clutch and keep the paddles if necessary).

    the problem with cars lapping close to eachother is that they aren’t actually lapping that close. A car will be significantly faster than the one in front until they get close then their lap time dies and they are unable to pass. The huge reliance on aerodynamics murders a car that follows in wake too much since it can’t stay close in corners or high downforce areas. In the rain downforce is much less important compared to mechanical grip, which I think is another big reason why the races are more exciting.

    And the drivers coped well with the removal of all the driver aides in 2008, adding a third pedal shouldn’t hurt

    Another thing, the BTCC and Formula Ford video show close exciting racing because the cars are much more equal and regulated. In F1 the overtaking mainly seems to take place when a clearly better car gets by a worse one, unless great defensive moves are taken. And a big worry I have about increased pit stops is “overtaking” someone who is in the pits. There is nothing I hate more than an overtake due to pit work. Take Monza from this year as an example; Button holding off Alonso with Alonso creeping closer and closer, it seemed like we had a spectacular climax awaiting us. Enter the mandatory pitstop, which was worthless last year when a set of Bridgestone softs could get you 40+ laps, and Alonso “overtakes” Button thanks to pitwork and a faster in and out lap. Yawn.

    I think we wouldn’t mind less overtaking if the tracks were more interesting. Long straight, hairpin, repeat. It gets old. Mix up the track design with more high speed corners and such, making the tracks more challenging and causing more mistakes. See, the thing with F1 is that the car with best aero and highest top speed will usually win (Red Bull). By making tracks more difficult on drivers it might give lesser cars a chance.

    I can’t help but feel that your fuel estimate is crazy low. I’m American planning a roadtrip across the country this year and I put estimates of gas as $4k at least. This is a very weighted estimate, taking into account absolute worst fuel economy. From what I know of Europe gas prices are much higher than here, and fluctuate a great deal from country to country. I wish you all the best of luck in achieving your goal (as I agree, it would be EPIC). Maybe buy some lottery tickets Monday.

    I don’t believe the race is going to happen, and I hope for a peaceful end in the favor of the people, but if the race were to happen I would watch it. I completely agree with Klon’s fourth point. If anything more people will tune in due to the situation in the country, more than enough to outset any boycott. And a 1 race boycott is more of a personal symbolic gesture and doesn’t actually accomplish anything. But whatever makes you feel good; its not like your missing more than a Formula 1 parade.

    Seriously? I think it’d be funnier to refer to it as the Ferrari 150th Italia Ford Are Whiny Baby’s F1 Car or something ridiculous… No one’s taking Ford seriously except Ferrari…

    Personally, I hate pit stops especially when they account for “overtaking”. But, if you are going to say you are making a tire that will last so and so number of laps make it do that. Soft tires should be that, soft. Im a Webber fan but how much of his 42 laps at Hungary were based of off complete driver skill instead of false labeling by Bridgestone; saying the tires will go off in 5-15 laps when they can really last 40. If tires are going to be a strategy option, make them an option. I completely agree with PM that grip and durability should be inversely proportional and should be at the extremes.
