As long as it doesn’t obstruct other spectators you can chain your bike virtually where you want. I have done for 15 years. There’s a Forestry Commission track about half a mile outside Silverstone on the left side of the road towards Abthorpe. I parked there for years before starting to camp at Hamilton Fields where a bike is also quite handy.10th July 2017, 21:53 at 9:53 pm #345809
Seven years on from my first visit I’m going back to Yas. Flights just booked. Hotel in the city booked. Race tickets for South Grandstand booked.7th June 2016, 7:22 at 7:22 am #321668
48Hrs till take off for the Atlantic crossing to Montreal. Can’t wait to get back there to a great city with the best track for producing exciting races that there is. Plus, it looks like there is an outside chance of a shower or two to spice things up even further. Bring it on.
Senna Corner on Friday. Hairpin for Saturday. Start line on Sunday.26th April 2016, 19:51 at 7:51 pm #318453
If I might just reply to Mikeyboy about missing Friday Practice. As someone who has travelled many thousands of miles following F1. I often find myself flying in on a Thursday and leaving on a Monday. Time limited.
Cities like Shanghai, KL, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul (no longer), Barcelona and many others just have to be seen sometimes when the opportunity arises. So I too often use Friday as an exploring day.
I wont be doing so this time around as I cross the Atlantic for my fourth Canadian GP. I’ve seen what a great city Montreal is.26th April 2016, 19:37 at 7:37 pm #318451
The three different grandstands for three different days is a great idea. That’s the option I’ve chosen. A pity other circuits don’t follow the lead and offer similar packages.
There’s always the touts / scalpers option at Montreal. They are there every time I’ve been over for the race.29th October 2015, 23:19 at 11:19 pm #308075
Seems that I’m the only person on here going to the race. I guess they’ll be a few Perez fans for company. Sunshine on the beach in Cancun today. Flying to Mexico Ciy tomorrow for the weekends action.
Bring it on!18th October 2015, 21:05 at 9:05 pm #307202
Well I now have my tickets in my own personal possession. Just 10 days till travelling over the Atlantic. 14 days to the race.21st September 2015, 19:46 at 7:46 pm #305676
It seems that they have been selling tickets in batches. A visit to the Circuit website shows that they are still selling the “last few” with the race just over forty days from now.
I bought mine from a major dealer just two months ago, and they said that they had over fifty available for Sol North at that time.21st September 2015, 19:41 at 7:41 pm #305675
They’ll need to improve the roads too. It was like a flashback to the Silverstone traffic of the 1980’s when I went there.29th December 2014, 8:32 at 8:32 am #289698
Limiting my choices only to races where I was lucky enough to actually be there watching, I’d have to say Donnington 1993 and that drive in the rain from Senna.
Canada 2007 for the first ever Hamilton win, four safety car periods, and that monster crash of Robert Kubicas that happened right in front of my grandstand. I thought I’d seen a fatality, but was pleasantly amazed to hear good news just a couple of hours later.
Finally, Brazil 2012. Where it looked like Vettel had spun out and lost his World Title on lap one. But came back through the pack and did just enough as Jenson won behind the Safety Car after Di Resta crashed on the last corner.17th September 2012, 6:09 at 6:09 am #210181
Don’t get me wrong. He’s a great driver, and possibly only he could have achieved the results in 2012 that Ferrari have achieved.
But he demands that number one in the team position, and does not like to feel threatened by a racer from within his own team.
Hence his antics in the qualifying farce at Hungary when Hamilton was his VERY threatening team mate.22nd March 2012, 20:26 at 8:26 pm #194829
Anybody not supplying their children with some form of hearing protection is insane.
To get a great experience. Get a pair of ear defenders, and a small radio with ear plugs. Place the ear plugs in your ears, and the defenders over the top. That way you still get the noise of the cars. BUT you also can get the full commentary from either Radio Silverstone or BBC Radio 5 Live.
You will know exactly what is going on at every part of the circuit. Not just at the part you can see. Or maybe not see if you arrived late with a General Admission ticket!
