Off four weeks tonight direct to Manama. Landing Friday morning. Flying home at 10am on Monday morning. So a very quick trip for my 31st foreign race. My 64th F1 Grand Prix in total. Access all areas Pit Lane passes sorted for Saturday and Sunday. Watching the whole race from the Pit Lane for the first time. Can’t wait.
Well I’m going in March 2019. But can’t help with seats Keith. A friend has invited me to spend Saturday and Sunday watching from the Pit Lane.
Last time I went, sitting in the West Grandstand, there was actually an area where you could take pics from without bothering other fans. So you didn’t have to get all your shots from your seat. I don’t know if this exists in the Marina Grandstand, but I’d be quite surprised if it doesn’t.
Have a good time.Not a chance of taking a camera into the concerts. Taking two lenses suggests you could be more than just a “snapper” and possibly attempting to profit from picture sales, which is what F1 don’t want you doing without paying them first. I’d just take the 100-400. I will have my 70-210 with me in Row B in the same Grandstand.
Last time I visited and sat in the West Stand I took my DSLR with a 300mm lens. Didn’t have any problems at all. This weekend I am trying the South Stand, and will be taking my 70-210mm lens.
As long as it doesn’t obstruct other spectators you can chain your bike virtually where you want. I have done for 15 years. There’s a Forestry Commission track about half a mile outside Silverstone on the left side of the road towards Abthorpe. I parked there for years before starting to camp at Hamilton Fields where a bike is also quite handy.
Seven years on from my first visit I’m going back to Yas. Flights just booked. Hotel in the city booked. Race tickets for South Grandstand booked.
48Hrs till take off for the Atlantic crossing to Montreal. Can’t wait to get back there to a great city with the best track for producing exciting races that there is. Plus, it looks like there is an outside chance of a shower or two to spice things up even further. Bring it on.
Senna Corner on Friday. Hairpin for Saturday. Start line on Sunday.If I might just reply to Mikeyboy about missing Friday Practice. As someone who has travelled many thousands of miles following F1. I often find myself flying in on a Thursday and leaving on a Monday. Time limited.
Cities like Shanghai, KL, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul (no longer), Barcelona and many others just have to be seen sometimes when the opportunity arises. So I too often use Friday as an exploring day.
I wont be doing so this time around as I cross the Atlantic for my fourth Canadian GP. I’ve seen what a great city Montreal is.The three different grandstands for three different days is a great idea. That’s the option I’ve chosen. A pity other circuits don’t follow the lead and offer similar packages.
There’s always the touts / scalpers option at Montreal. They are there every time I’ve been over for the race.Seems that I’m the only person on here going to the race. I guess they’ll be a few Perez fans for company. Sunshine on the beach in Cancun today. Flying to Mexico Ciy tomorrow for the weekends action.
