I think as other people have said, an upvote and downvote function in comments sections would work immensely well.
3rd September 2015, 0:08 at 12:08 am #304203ZazeemsParticipantI’m not so sure about this. Whilst Ferrari in the past have pushed the boundaries of subliminal advertising (as I recall in 1999 and again in the mid 2000s they were warned and made to change their livery) this seems a bit of a stretch.
A quick google image search for both ‘marlboro be red’ and ‘marlboro red is innovation’ revealed nothing Ferrari or even F1 related in the first couple of minutes of scrolling. Likewise for a seach of ‘ferrari red season’. It seems the only crossover still left is the similarity of their colour schemes.
Ferrari and Marlboro are inextricably linked at least in my mind, thanks to my lengthy over-exposure to their 15 year brand partnership. However nowadays it really does appear that there’s no connection whatsoever.
8th July 2014, 2:51 at 2:51 am #266050ZazeemsParticipantGahhh I feel really guilty now, because as @ajokay said I probably used up the only plausible route and thus won only by virtue of being first entrant.
Anyway. Here goes.
Your mission is to design something different. With the increasing and disturbing homogenisation of the F1 calendar you must create a Formula One circuit that will break the mold and add some variety by being completely different to any other venue, whether that be a Hockenheim-esque forest loop, a Manx TT style road course, a blast up and down a motorway à la Avus, or whatever else springs to mind.
Only condition… it has to be plausible and fit for modern F1 usage. This means:
-a location within relative proximity to civilisation
-a length above 3.5km
-space for a pitlane, paddock and grandstands
-adequate run-off areas (or at least space for plenty of energy absorbing barriers and recovery equipment such as in Montreal).Do feel free to explain why you think your circuit is unique! Have fun!!

Yorkshire GP – About 9 miles from Leeds.
4.84km
10 corners
DRS zones on the pits straight (where the dots meet) and the back straight leading into the stadium section (past the 4km mark).
Tried to make it a bit like the old Österreichring. Sort of just ended up like a distorted Zolder, but I’m all the more proud of it for that :)

4.75km
Zandvoort
Last used by F1 in 1985.
Quite difficult as there’s now a lot of development around the circuit, but I wanted to create a fast flowing design that captured the spirit of the original whilst still providing a couple of good overtaking opportunities.
Removed turns two and three to open out the beginning of the lap, and so that the paddock complex could be extended to accommodate modern F1.
2nd May 2014, 20:00 at 8:00 pm #258693ZazeemsParticipantShame. I quite like the circuit, and somewhere with such a large motorsport fan-base and rich racing heritage deserves a Grand Prix, especially when there are other countries on the calendar who have neither.
But like you say, it all comes down to money.

An old fashioned, simplistic blast around the perimeter roads with a purpose built loop to add a couple of overtaking opportunities. The pitlane would be between the 3 and 4 km markers.

6.55km
I’d leave the pits where they are, probably just extend and upgrade them (hence the lengthening of the main straight)Retaining the fast and flowing nature of the original (and it’s entirety anyway) providing some more spectacular sweeping corners, and an exciting overtaking opportunity at the end of the lap.
26th October 2013, 20:40 at 8:40 pm #220532ZazeemsParticipantJust over the length limit I’m afraid, at 6.5km. However I feel it’s justified seeing as how fast a circuit it is.

8 turns, hugely quick and flowing, and an overtaking oppourtunity at the end of the lap. God knows we need some simplistic and more old fashioned circuits on the calendar.

6.6km
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6015823A tad long, but the circuit’s so fast the lap time would actually be quite short.

5.6KmThere’d be plenty of space for a pit complex in the north part of Hampson Park, making the corner at Vardon Road the first corner.
