Red Bull performed a sub-two second pit stop for Mark Webber during the United States Grand Prix, giving him the fastest pit stop of the race.
The team said Webber’s car was stationary for 1.923 seconds, beating the previous best of 2.05 seconds they achieved at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
All the drivers started on the medium compound, apart from Jean-Eric Vergne, and most only made a single pit stop during the race. However some drivers who made their first pit stops early, such as Felipe Massa and Paul di Resta, found their lap times tailed off too soon in the final stint and had to make a second stop.
Here’s all the tyre strategy data from the race:

Not news, but amaizing how much Red Bull pushes themselves even at this stage. It’s not just the driver, or the designer, being the best in the world… 1.9 secs is just mindblowing when you think about it. Lift the car, unscrew the wheelnuts, take the old tyres off, put the new tyres in, fasten the wheelnuts again, and drop the car. It takes more to think about it than what it actually takes them !

Tell me about it… it takes me like 40 minutes to chance a flap tyre of my car :(

It does indeed… you might need 15 more people to help you with it

Looks like a 2 stopper really didn’t figure into the equations today.

Did Maldonado do 8 laps and then do 48 laps on the hard tyre? Because as much as he’s been an **** lately, that’s huge!

Anybody understand the strategy of Gutierrez pitting on lap 1 under the safety car? It makes no sense unless they thought they could go to the end, or they though most others would need two stops where they could do it in de facto one stop using the hard tyre twice.

I think he had a puncture, but I’m not sure who caused it.
