I’ve been following the game on a couple of other forums. A ot of these things have already been covered.
What punishments are they, for say when you cut a corner? Do you get slowed down or drive through?
It’s a speed penalty. The game limits your top speed for several seconds.
Will online play also have these rules.
E.G watching Hamilton and Jake you clearly seen Hamilton driving through coners and wasn’t punished, this will ruin the game IMHO
Penalties can be switched on and off. Most likely that the host of an online game will have control over the level of difficulty like that.
Will you be able to have a Damon/Graham Hill style helmet?
There’s been no word on helmet customisation.
In career mode when we start off in the small teams will it be realistic? I.e. will it take a stellar drive to get even a point in a Toro Rosso?
Yes. This isn’t a game where diving down the inside of the first corner and braking later than everyone else will net you ten positions. You have to fight for every tenth of a second.
Last year’s game was good but once you got the hang of it it was easy to win miles ahead on even the hard level so will this actually be harder?
Last year’s game was made for the Wii, which is far less sophisticated a console than the Playstation 3, XBox 360 and PCs. According to preliminary reviews from IGN and Race Sim Central (I think), you’re really got to fight. IGN in particular said they game in 24th and last in the handful of races they did.
Will getting a set up slightly off or wrong realistically hurt your times?
Yes and no. When teams arrive at a venue, they already have a very good idea of what their setup will be because their simulators are so accurate. This is reflected in the game by having a basic setup that will suit the circuit, so you won’t be able to run an extremely high downforce configuration somewhere like Monza. So you’ll be able to set respectable times without changing a thing about the basic setup, but if you want to be truly competitive, you’ll have to go all the way.
On the career mode will you be compared to your teammate? And say, if you’re outqualified a lot will that put you under more pressure to deliver or is it only the races and points that matter?
Yes.
Question: When Racing online are cars performances all the same or do you have to race a McLaren or Red Bull to be able to be competitive?
I believe car performance has been equilised for online mode. So even if the Ferraris and McLarens and Red Bulls have been taken, you can jump in a Toro Rosso or a Hispania and be competitive.
